jellerParticipantHi guys! I’m running a site on the X-theme with a single-site license. Because my hosting provider is terribly slow I’d like to try out a different provider. I was planning to do the following:
Production site: http://www.professionalwebsite1.com
Personal site: http://www.personalwebsite1.comI’d like to copy my full installation of WordPress, including my X-theme, from professionalwebsite1.com to personalwebsite1.com, which is hosted by a different party. The personal website would contain the files for the professional website for about two months while I test speeds at different times and loads, after which I’d transfer the domain and files professionalwebsite1.com to the hosting provider of my personal website – if the test succeeds. After this test I’d delete the WordPress-installation from my personal site and use the personal site for personal stuff.
Do I need a second license for this test or can I use a developer’s license? And how would I do this? Thx!

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for writing in and very detailed information. With the latest changes in how you validate your site, you can now assign a license to a main site and development site. That is to say that you do not have to buy an additional license to validate the two sites that you would like to have. All you have to do is:
1] Please login to your account and assign the license. You need to assign the license to your site using this url: https://www.your-domain.com/. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
2] Go back to X Addons > Home again, and insert the license again. And please review the changes that we made on how you are going to validated your X theme because we made a big change in the process. Please check it out here: https://community.theme.co/kb/product-validation/
For instructions on how you can duplicate or migrate your site from one site to another, please check out our knowledge base here: https://community.theme.co/kb/cornerstone-migration/
Hope this helps.

jellerParticipantExcellent reply, thank you so much! I’m very happy you’ve got such a flexible licensing system. Well, flexible enough for me at least ;). I’ll follow your instructions and set up a development site so I can mess around with a new look without annoying my visitors.

jellerParticipantAnd, before I forget, I’ll be able to test the new hosting provider so my not-annoyed visitors will be able to enjoy greater speeds in the future. So without knowing it my visitors are thankful for your answer as well 🙂
