This is my first ever website build. I tried the demo content install thinking it would be a great template to start with and tweak to get my site up. PRETTY FUNNY RIGHT?
I can’t even figure out how to get rid of the “Glow- Salon and Spa” logo at the top. I guess that space is called the Header, since I determined that the second area down the page is called the intro.
My second choice was just to delete everything and start from scratch, but I don’t know how to do that either.
I’ve been trying for 2 days to figure this out, what a nightmare for a first timer.
PLEASE HELP.February 14, 2016 at 10:54 am #795216Hi there,
Thanks for writing in! As a starter, starting with a demo is better. You can change the logo from Customize > Header > Logo – Image – http://prntscr.com/a36q65
However I’d suggest you to explore our Knowledge Base and watch some tutorials before getting started. It will save your time and will be helpful to get used to with X and Cornerstone.
Hope this helps. Feel free to get in touch with us if there is something not clear or if you encounter a problem along the way regarding X.
Cheers!
February 16, 2016 at 2:21 pm #798644Thank you for your reply, I had actually deleted everything and started from scratch because I couldn’t even get back to this forum post.
I know that sounds ridiculous, but when you have your level of knowledge, it’s hard to dumb yourself down to my level. I know many people that would love to use WP and Themeco, but even the basic tutorials are too advanced to make sense for many of us “Tech Challenged” users.
I’ve watched many of the videos you suggested and I’m still quite lost. The fact that you guys update versions so fast and the videos are not update with the current versions makes it tough for us rookies.
I’m a personal life/business coach who is breaking out onto my own after years working with companies, so learning this side of computers, internet and websites is very daunting, but imperative. Thanks for your help. I’ll keep at it.
February 17, 2016 at 12:06 am #799327Hi there,
Thanks for updating. Sorry to hear t hat you are having trouble. As X is a huge theme with great functionality, you might see a ton of resources on our Knowledge Base. But initially you just need the Basic WordPress knowledge (you should have this if you want to build your own site) and then watch the Cornerstone tutorial and setup guide for individual Stack. That’s all you need to watch first.
If you face any issue, feel free to let us know with a bit clarification. We’ll be happy to assist you.
Cheers!
May 14, 2016 at 4:54 am #991092It’s 3 months later and I’m still lost. I’ve watched a hundred videos, but they all either use a different version so they look and work different, or they skip over so many parts that it’s not very helpful.
The basic wordpress knowledge is the same problem. Then they teach so much that doesn’t work the same when you use X Theme, which all changes again if you use a child theme like ICON, etc.
I’m good at almost everything I’ve ever tried, but this is seriously beating me down…May 14, 2016 at 4:55 am #991093I believe what I’ve built so far is just in X Theme using Cornerstone, WITHOUT a child theme.
If I tru to change now I will have to start all over right?May 14, 2016 at 5:26 am #991109Hi again,
You don’t need to start over again, just start making changes in your pages built with Cornerstone. If you’ve modified the theme, just install Child theme and move your changes in the child theme. Please refer to child theme setup. This allows you to make code changes that won’t be overwritten when an X update is released. Can you please provide the URL of your site so we can take a look?
Thanks!
May 14, 2016 at 12:46 pm #991435It’s http://www.dezigningmypurpose.com but it’s not live as I’m still only partially done building it in WP.
I don’t know anything about code, so I’m hoping not to have to do any of thatMay 14, 2016 at 12:52 pm #991445This reply has been marked as private.May 14, 2016 at 1:35 pm #991477Nabeel A said

Do I need to copy and paste every individual section/column/row/etc.?May 14, 2016 at 9:03 pm #991787Hello There,
Before switching to a child theme, please backup your customizer setting by going to X Addons > Customizer Manager. You need to download the XCS file as a backup. After downloading it, you can switch to your child theme. Once the child theme is active and ready, you go back again to the customizer manager, X Addons > Customizer Manager and upload the XCS file to make sure that you will have the same setting before activating the child theme.
Please always remember that the child theme doesn’t affect the contents of your pages, section/row/columns, built in Cornerstone. They are not theme dependent unless otherwise you were having a page template customizations.
Hope this explains it briefly.
May 16, 2016 at 2:51 pm #994257Unfortunately, I don’t know what the XCS file is, but I watched a bunch of youtube videos and found out how to do a backup. Not sure what to do if my site were to go down or get messed up, but hey… at least it’s backed up.
Thanks I’ve downloaded AGENCY and I’m pretty much just starting over.May 16, 2016 at 5:26 pm #994476Sure, let us know if you have any questions and we’ll be happy to help!
