Denise MParticipantI’ve been trying to convert post category pages over to using Grids. I have done the following pages using The Grid:
http://thepetshow.com/ever-after/
http://thepetshow.com/humor/
http://thepetshow.com/scrapbook/As you can see from the pages – they look lousy. I have set default images to use with posts that don’t have their own images – but they’re not showing up. I’ve triple checked the settings, tried all 3 grid types, still not showing the default image.
So I decided to try Essential Grid on this page:
http://thepetshow.com/thanks-warren/
Same darn problem. No default images showing. Additionally, it will pull up featured image, first content image, but will not pull the alternative image.
I would appreciate someone taking a look to see what the problem is. I will add login info in another post.

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for writing in! The password is still not working for us.
Your images do not display (http://prntscr.com/ea5i3v) because it turns out that you are using Jetpack and Photon module is enabled. Photon will cached all your images and sometimes it has some problems loading the images. One of the limitations of photons:
No cache invalidations – currently the images are cached “forever”. If you want to “refresh” an image you will need to change the name of the image. Adding random query arguments, commonly known as cachebusters, will not work. For further information, you can check it here: https://developer.wordpress.com/docs/photon/
For the time being, please disable Photon module and test your site again.

Denise MParticipantThanks so much. I have turned off photon, but the images are still not showing. I’ve redone the password (same as above) and tested it this time. It is definitely working now.

LelyModeratorHello Denise,
I did check this page:http://thepetshow.com/thanks-warren/ I can see you have use Essential Grid. When I check Alternate image source, it is not set. See this:http://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cbn3jc6blN. Yes, you have correctly set the source to look for Alternative image but then alternative image is not set.

Denise MParticipantI am aware it’s not showing….which is why I’m here.
The default image is set in the essential grid settings as seen here:

According to the documentation posted here:

And an example from the grid which also shows default image set for page http://thepetshow.com/ever-after/:

And yet no image shows. Please advise

Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for updating in!

In your settings, you have selected to display the image in this order:
– featured image
– first content image
– default imageThe problem is that because you have not inserted a featured image, it will automatically check for inserted images in your post and then the image that were inserted has an invalid link as shown here:
http://prntscr.com/eca2bw
http://prntscr.com/eca2jxTo resolve this issue, please uncheck the “First Content” and see how it goes.
Please let us know how it goes.

Denise MParticipantBless you Reu Nel for finally figuring out the issue! I’m feeling pretty stupid for not checking post text myself, but am eternally grateful you have set me straight. I have fixed the images on the essential grid posts and all is well. I expect it will be the same issue preventing the grid from functioning properly. Thanks again!
