Thanks for writing in!
1. The default font for integrity Dark is Lato
2. You can change the deafult font under Typography > body and content
http://screencast.com/t/O6cRTwuHDo
3. You can use any font listed in the dropdown in #2 or you can use any of these http://www.cssfontstack.com/
Hope that helps.
December 30, 2014 at 3:08 am #173265I have a child theme in place
What entry should i make there to protect my choice of fonts?
Thanks!
December 30, 2014 at 4:54 am #173319Hi Marty,
No need to protect your choice of fonts.
A child theme by default does not do anything until you put some codes into it.
For more information on child themes please see – https://theme.co/x/member/kb/how-to-setup-child-themes/
Hope that helps.
December 30, 2014 at 7:53 am #173423Thanks for the the link about child theme, and i totally understand the why and how of a child theme, and have that in place as I said
The question was not how to set up a child theme tho
You said “A child theme by default does not do anything until you put some codes into it”
Agreed
And I may want to put default , site wide, fonts in my child theme, different from your default fonts, so again I ask the SECOND question from the OP
“SECOND QUESTION if I wanted to change the default font or font family where would I do that? NOTE ( I do have a child theme in place):
The reason I have child theme is I do not want to use the customizer, as you suggested I should
Thanks as well for the link you sent http://www.cssfontstack.com/ Are ALL the fonts listed there available in customizer?
Please, unless it is secret:):):) tell me what folder/file I need to add to my child theme to control site wide or page fonts
Thanks so much!!
December 30, 2014 at 8:25 am #173448Hi Marty,
Thanks for writing in!
Changing the fonts using the Customizer is recommended as when you select a font, it automatically generates it’s Google stylesheet URL and load it to your website.
If you want to use child theme to change/override the default fonts using CSS, it requires custom development as you need to enqueue the font URLs in your website manually. Regretfully, the support for it would be getting outside the scope. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this.
Meanwhile, you can try following this thread to use your custom fonts: https://theme.co/x/member/forums/topic/custom-font-2/#post-142444
Regarding the http://www.cssfontstack.com/, this website just provides the names of the web safe fonts that you can use anywhere in your website using CSS. The Customizer uses the fonts available in Google Fonts.
Thanks for understanding. Take care!
December 30, 2014 at 9:52 am #173535Ok explaining that way to me I understand how the font sets are loaded, and I see that using the customizer for font selection is the easiest way….and use css to modify at the page level as needed
So, in other words, neither WordPress nor Theme x updates will affect the default Site Wide fonts?
December 30, 2014 at 11:54 am #173602Hi Marty,
Yes WordPress and X updates should not affect your choice of fonts unless there is a need to remove certain fonts (very unlikely). In the case something like that happens however we will always have notes on it on the release notes.
Happy New Year!
