Sean NParticipantGreat theme, been having a lot of fun with it so far but have a couple quick questions RE: icons/customization. I’d seen a couple aspects of these questions touched on briefly in another post or two but so far haven’t had the coding chops/familiarity with the ins and outs of the theme to figure them out (I do already have a child theme setup etc. though).
1) Is there any way to change the ‘link’ icon that shows up when you hover over media items in the portfolio to a different icon (Integrity, in my case)? If so, what would be the best/cleanest way to do this?
2) Is there a way to insert icons into pages/posts from within the visual editor (i.e. without having to know the shortcodes), or at least access a whole visual list of all of them from within my own site (i.e. without having to look one up on your demo icon list)? I’ve seen people mention a dropdown menu of some kind for icons but for the life of me I can’t seem to find what/where that’s even supposed to be.
Sorry if that’s too much to cover all at once, I’m sure a lot of it’s just me being a dummy or something but any help you can provide in clearing some of that up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

KoryKeymasterHey Sean,
Thanks for writing in and for your very kind words about the theme! We always love hearing these things from our users. 🙂 Allow me to run through your items one by one:
- I believe this thread should help you out with changing the link icon. Remember that this update must be done via a child theme as the thread states. There is detailed information about child theme setup in the Knowledge Base should you need it.
- Regarding implementing icons, this is done via the [icon] shortcode, which is an inline shortcode so we cannot include this via Visual Composer regretfully. The same is true for the [dropcap] shortcode, as it is inline and cannot be wrapped around a single letter. Fortunately, implementing an [icon] shortcode is very easy as the only attribute you really need to worry about is the type attribute, and you can easily find a list of all these options here.
Thanks!

Sean NParticipantGreat, thanks for the additional info! Think I’ve got it figured out now. I had a couple other (fairly unrelated) questions, but wasn’t sure if I should start a new topic for them or not; if so I’ll happily move these there.
Basically I’m wondering how to edit how the featured images behave in the Integrity Portfolio. Specifically, is there a way to change what size they are within the actual portfolio item pages/posts so they’re not so huge/blown up (or perhaps constrain the container for them to keep them smaller too)? If not, would there be any way to use them only as thumbnails for the main portfolio index but not have them appear within the specific item pages themselves?
Their ‘thumbnail’ function within the portfolio is of course really crucial to the site as a whole, and for individual photographs I’d prefer to have the ‘post’ metadata etc. appear below the image itself (more like a caption of sorts) like it does by default for featured images only anyway, but as it is now I find the auto-resizing really disruptive and limiting to the look & feel of the portfolio, especially coming from a photography perspective.
If there isn’t any way to change the featured images per se, how could I go about (a) Creating thumbnails in the main portfolio without setting a featured image (or set a featured image without having the blown up version appear after clicking on the thumbnail), and (b) Moving the metadata below a regular image inserted on the portfolio item page?
Apologies again if I’m rehashing anything that’s already been covered; I’ve seen other people mentioning having issues with this but haven’t been able to find any definitive resolution for it. Thanks again in advance for your help!

ChristianModeratorHey Sean,
It would be better if you move your questions to separate post per topic. That way it’ll help other users also.
Thanks.
