I use WPEngine for hosting and just purchased X for a new website. However, the customizer keeps “crashing”. It will load initially and then I can click on the different tabs but as soon as I try to make a change it crashes and I get the “aw,snap” in chrome.

    Hi There,

    Thanks for writing in.

Login details that you have shared is incorrect.

In most cases memory limit is sufficient to run WordPress and X seamlessly. For more information on increasing memory limit kindly walk-through:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks.

    Hello There,

Thanks for updating in! Regretfully the given user access has a very limited privileges. We cannot do anything with your dashboard. Please give us administrator privileges to be able to check and fix the issue. Meanwhile, even if you set your server to have 512MB, by default, WordPress will attempt to increase memory allocated to PHP to 40MB only (code is at the beginning of /wp-includes/default-constants.php) for single site and 64MB only for multisite, so the setting in wp-config.php should reflect something higher than 40MB or 64MB depending on your setup.

To increase your WP memory limit, please follow the instructions here:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP
    http://docs.woothemes.com/document/increasing-the-wordpress-memory-limit/

Please let us know how it goes.

FYI, I confirmed with host that max memory allocation is 512mb and PHP gets 256mb. It is still crashing.

    Hi,

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

If you look at our site, you will notice that only one plugin is installed and that is Cornerstone.

I have tested and your customizer is working fine on my end,.

I have tested with Chrome PC, are you still facing this issue?

Yep still crashing. I have tried Firefox, Safari and Chrome all on a macbook pro. I have tried Safari and Chrome on a MacPro and I have tried doing this on several different networks. All with the same result.

    Hi There,

Another support here and neither I can replicate the issue on my end. As you can see I was able to change the links color, Blog title, and the site name font-family and did not get the error even once. Can you try deactivating some of your browser’s addons?

Or try using the incognito mode of your browser.

    Thanks.

    Hi All –

I was having the same issue and found the cause and solution:

    @ryansarver
, it looks like you use Dashlane, as do I. Love it! However, if you disable the Dashlane chrome extension (I see that it is on in your screencast), customizer works perfectly. Take a watch in my video.

I had the extension installed in both Chrome and Safari, and Customizer was crashing in both.

    Hopefully that’s helpful!

Came looking for a solution to this, sure enough I run Dashlane.. and disabling it does infact resolve the issue.

    Very weird!

Thanks to Jennetcetera for the solution!
