Hi, and thanks for an awesome theme! Is there a way of creating a custom post loop, like this widget http://wordpress.org/plugins/ultimate-posts-widget/, in the visual composer?

I thought I saw an element like this on the visual composer homepage but for some reason it’s not present in your version. Is it possible to add this?

After comparing the original Visual Composer plugin it seems like you have disabled lots of page elemenst, is this correct? How do I activate them again? I would very need to be able to use the post-related elements on my site. Thanks guys!

    Hey Josef,

We deactive all native Visual Composer shortcodes and just use ours to provide you with optimized and working shortcode instead of their set of default ones. We already had a person that was asking for something similar so I will just post the link here so you can read through it and if you have any additional questions how to reactive the default shortcodes you can ask me here.

Hmm…I see that you guys have a diffrent grid system than visual composer. I guess thats why you need to optimize the elements for this theme.

I would really lik the “vc_posts_grid” element to work with my theme is there any plans on implementing this with X? The recent post element that comes with X is quite limited in options.

    Thanks!

    Josef,

Could you let us know what features you would like to see in the [recent_posts] shortcode? Let us know when you have a chance and we can possibly work to add these in ourselves.

    Thanks!

Ok, nice. Quite simply I would like to be able to mix multiple post types into one single post feed. I have many post types, “news”, “Children”, “Mission”, “Youth” etc., and I need to mix them into a single query.

Also the vc_posts_grid have a nice layout builder that allows you to customize how to order your headings, featured image, excerpt etc.

Take a look at the vc_posts_grid in the original visual composer plugin. You can easily access it on a demo site on their homepage.

I forgot, there is no excerpt option in [recent posts] either

    Hey Josef,

Just wanted to follow up with you on this. When you say you have “multiple post types” you’d like to have in one place, do you mean multiple custom post types, like the Portfoliio is a custom post type? Or, did you mean to say “categories” for your regular posts. For example, are “News” and “Children” categories on your regular posts, or are those actual custom post types that you have created and are managing with a plugin?

    Thanks!

Yes that’s right, I have multiple custom post types(not categories) which i need to blend into one feed on the front page. I’m running a church site and each ministry have their own post type, that way It’s easier for us to manage all the content being created. Each post type/ministry have it’s own sub page, but on the front page I merge the latest post into one post feed.

On the old site I do this in a custom page template and in there I do a custom wp query merging all the post types. I guess I could do that with your theme as well but is seems a shame not to be using the page builder for this. For all that I can see the function is there in Visual Composer but it’s not implemented yet in X.

    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your feedback Josef, we’ll see what we can do with the [recent_posts] shortcode going forward. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you need anything else!
