I don’t want the blog list page as the homepage, so I’ve set the home as a text page.
I do however want to add the blog list page to the top menu – I created a page, but there is no template for the blog. How do I add the blog list to the top menu?
Thanks,

You need to go to Appearance > Menus > Pages > View ll > Check the Blog page then click Add Menu button. You’ll just need to reorder the position as per your needs.
Hope that helps. 🙂
February 27, 2014 at 2:23 am #18455Thanks for responding, but this isn’t what I meant.
The page I created is called “News” and is just a regular text page – I was hoping to be able to change the template to a blog layout (like I have done on other themes).“Blog” is not listed in the view all. Obviously “News” is, but this is just a text page. I hope this makes sense. How do I add the post list page to the main menu?
February 27, 2014 at 4:58 am #18481Hey Gaumina,
You need to:
1. If Blog Page is not present, please Add a Page titled Blog (or can be anything)
2. In Settings > Reading > Choose a Static Page > Choose Blog (or can be anything) as Posts Page
3. In Appearance > Menu > Add to Menu the Blog (or can be anything) pageHope that helps. 🙂
February 27, 2014 at 5:32 am #18489I knew it was something obvious. Thank you very much.

March 27, 2014 at 6:31 am #27061Dear Support,
I think this is the right thread to ask my question regarding blogs.
I’ve been buliding a web site (not blog) INSIDE which I have to create 3 different blogs (one for each team member) and for “blog” I mean a space where one can publish posts, photos, videos, whatever he likes. With a sidebar on the right showing a text widget for the “Who is”, a “Recent Posts” widget showing the last 4 posts from that blog only and, if possibile, a “Search” bar searching in the blog only. Something like this: http://piras.blogautore.espresso.repubblica.it/
Is it possible?
My url is http://pantarei.wpengine.com You can see two “Blog” menus in the Nav.Bar: the first one is a dropdown containing the categories of the blogs I should create, the second one is the blog setting you suggested to Gaumina (the contents are demo content).
I’m not sure whether I must create a Category, one for each blog, and just have the “blog” as a category archive (but in this case I guess I cannot have any sidebar other than the default one), or a Page with “recents posts”, or…what?
Thank you very much for your support!
SilviaMarch 28, 2014 at 2:45 pm #27486Hey Silvia,
Thanks for writing in! The only way to do something like this would be to create your posts in the Posts section of WordPress and assign a Category to each post based on who the author is. For example, if it’s a post written by “Person A,” then assign a category of Person A to that post, and so on with each author. Then, you can add a link to the navbar that links out to the category archive page for that category. You can do this by going to Appearance > Menus and adding the category archive link to the page. You can alter the titles of these pages as outlined in these release notes, and you can alter the sidebars for these pages as outlined in these release notes. In the sidebar you will need to create your text widget for each author, and you can include a [recent_posts] shortcode that is filtered by category to show only posts for that author. There is more information on this shortcode in the Knowledge Base as well as here that you should read up on to understand how to implement this feature. There is no way to include a search for only the category as WordPress search goes across the entire blog.
If you have any further questions on this, please open a new thread as it is slightly off topic to the original request in this thread. In your new thread, reference this old thread so we can know our previous response to you as well.
Thanks!

thanks a lot for your clear and detailed explanation! There will be no need to open a new thread: I think I’ve come across the problem!
You guys are great! Cheers!
