My client has 17 product lines. I want to create a page with 17 photos — one for each product line — in a grid layout. Each image would be a link to launch a ‘lightbox’ that has numerous photos for that specific product line. Can this be done using the tools included in X or do I need to add a gallery plugin?
July 13, 2014 at 1:23 pm #68027Hi Jeff,
WooCommerce has a feature by default Product Gallery for each individual product, check documentation here: http://docs.woothemes.com/document/adding-product-images-and-galleries/ which is compatible with our X theme. Demo: http://theme.co/x/demo/shop/integrity/product/ship-your-idea-2/
So you don’t need any Gallery plugin. But if you need more features rather than default I’ll suggest you to check out this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-dynamic-gallery/
Hope these helps, Cheers!
July 13, 2014 at 3:10 pm #68044No it doesn’t help.
The WooThemes video is for WooCommerce which doesn’t work if you are just using a standard page. Yes, I’m aware of the WooCommerce Dynamic Gallery plugin, but once again you need to have WooCommerce installed and be working on a product page.
July 14, 2014 at 11:43 am #68420Hi Jeff,
Really sorry that I got you wrong, I thought you’re using WooCommerce as you mentioned ‘products’ in thread.
You can create image gallery is page as you want, 1) Image + Block_Grid shortcode or 2) Responsive Lightbox shortcode or 3) Even WordPress default gallery.

September 17, 2015 at 11:44 am #394117Okay, I want to do the same thing as him. Not selling items but have maybe 6 or so categories and you click on one of the categories and it brings up the images to scroll thru to view from that category. But my question is do we have to do all those 3 items you listed here? And is there another page that can take you thru the process?
Thank you

Please see this article on how to setup galleries:https://community.theme.co/kb/how-to-setup-galleries/
Hope this helps.
September 17, 2015 at 5:33 pm #394345Thank you, I will check it out.
September 17, 2015 at 5:35 pm #394346So this will allow me to post thumbnails for the categories, then when they click on it, they can scroll thru images for that gallery, or what would be the next step for that after I create this gallery. Sorry to be a pest.
Thank you
September 17, 2015 at 11:31 pm #394585Hi Carolyn,
Sorry we’re a bit confuse of what you’re wanting to do. Lets clarify this first, you need 6 or more images to represent each categories. You can do that with an Block Grid element
So that images will be a link, do you want that images to link on a new page which contains all other images that belong to that category?
Or will that image opens up a Lightbox showing those image that belongs to that category?
Please clarify, Thanks!
September 18, 2015 at 8:47 am #394968Yes on the 6 images on page, and yes open a lightbox gallery that that thumbnail represented. I think I have the right idea, but I have never done it. I would like to use nextgen pluging and then use justified image grid. I was told by a friend to try that. But yes I don’t want another page to open up I just want a gallery in lightbox or something to pop up and show the images for that particular category/gallery.
September 18, 2015 at 9:03 am #394979Oh and thank you again.
September 18, 2015 at 2:22 pm #395238Hi Carolyn,
Thank for the clarification! Regretfully, this isn’t possible out of the box to pull the images from a product category in the lightbox of another page. You can only add multiples image in a page that can be opened in a lightbox. It could be possible to achieve your desired result with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.
Thanks for understanding. Take care!
