I’m having an issue with creating content tabs in cornerstone. I’ve got about 5 tabs on this page.
http://bandbyachtdesigns.com/core-sound-17/
When I try and edit say the second tab the preview on the right reverts back to the first tab and so it’s impossible to see the changes I’m making in real time to that particular tab. It’s pretty frustrating. Any suggestions? As you can see, the tabs are pretty complex from a text editing perspective with images and paragraphs scattered throughout (at least that’s what I’m trying to do). The text editor window is incredibly small and almost totally useless when trying to see the interaction between the text and images so the preview is essential. Any progress on getting a better text editing window for those who are actually writing content on their site and not just little blurbs or whatever. I really like cornerstone’s layout but i’m surprised there isn’t more outcry for a better text editor solution.

Thank you for the updating the password. You’re using an older version of X. Please update X and Cornerstone plugin to the latest version.
WordPress editor control or standard
<textarea>
in the Cornerstone sidebar can now be expanded in the latest version. To do this, simply click the Expand button below the control:Let us know if the problem remains after updating the theme.
June 21, 2015 at 12:42 pm #308554Thank you for pointing that out. The expand option works fine. Is there a way to have text boxes default to visual? I almost never use the plain text editor.
Also, on that same page, after the update the image slider at the top of the page does not display in the cornerstone preview as it did before. However it seems to still be functioning on the published page.
June 21, 2015 at 1:00 pm #308568Okay something is up. The cornerstone preview does not update when i change the content of a tab but when i click save and refresh the page elsewhere the change was made.
I tried to refresh cornerstone but something must be down. All i’m getting is loading circles in all the sections. Something is not happy. Only seems to be happening to this page.

I checked on WP_DEBUG in wp-config.php and it is already set to false. What does the warning mean? Not sure how to proceed.
Thanks for your help.
June 22, 2015 at 2:16 am #309065Hi there,
I just found out that your cornerstone builder’s content are corrupted. It returns empty elements thus triggering that warning. It still works at the front end because the content that being rendered is the standard shortcodes from your classic editor.
Your only option for now to re-create your content through cornerstone.
This could happen when you’re migrating your content to another and then you accidentally edited the serialized data through database, exported template, or migration. Have you done anything like that?
Thanks!
June 22, 2015 at 7:28 am #309320I sure don’t think so. If i did it wouldn’t have been deliberate. Serialized data?
Ok so i need to just recreate that page in cornerstone? I can do that easily enough? What should I avoid doing in layman’s terms so this doesn’t happen again?
Another thing that is kind of annoying is on this page http://bandbyachtdesigns.com/purchase-plans/ when i try to edit the content in the tabs, the tabs auto minimize in the preview. Surely cornerstone should know which tab i’m editing and can leave that one open until the user is done. I know i can click the stay open toggle button but i hope that is temporary solution. Just wanted to bring that up for future improvements.
Maybe also you can answer, is there a reason that in the new cornerstone editor you can’t just click in the various text boxes and edit them directly like a wysiwyg editor and have the toolbar controls on the sidebar as opposed to having the text editor box on the sidebar. It would eliminate the need for the expanding window for editing text in visual.
One last thing, is there a way to set the visual mode on text edit boxes as the default instead of plain text? I use the visual editor pretty much exclusively.
Thanks for all of your support!
June 22, 2015 at 8:09 pm #309968Hey there,
1. Serialized data is generated by Cornerstone for its use in order to know if the content has been edited outside of Cornerstone. You must have edited your content in Classic Mode or moved your site from local server to live.
2. In order for the data to be built again, you must manually recreate the page by starting from scratch or cutting and pasting back the element’s content.
3. The closing Tabs issue has been submitted to our list of feature request and we might implement it in a future release.
4. Regarding Text Editing, this cannot be done because the right hand pane is for previewing only and not editing. Moreover, that would not be good for usability.
5. Most users use Text Mode so we leave it to default. There’s currently no option to set Visual Mode as default.
Thank you.
April 5, 2016 at 8:01 am #867577Is it possible to select visual mode somewhere in the php code? I’d rather have it that way for my clients…
April 5, 2016 at 9:05 pm #868463Hello Jeroen,
That would be possible, unfortunately that is beyond the scope of our support. You may wish to consult a developer to implement this. Thank you for understanding.
