Fastest way is to save your page, then delete everything except the block you want to save. Save it as a template, choose block instead of page, then close the window without saving changes to the page. Block saved, page unaffected. Takes only a few seconds.
March 17, 2016 at 7:33 pm #842344Yes, it’s easier that way 🙂 , thanks for sharing.
March 23, 2016 at 3:13 pm #850022Yes, another vote for saving a block as a template. Any idea on when this may happen? Also, why is it we can’t work in both “text” and cornerstone? When I tried this, I got a warning that changes wouldn’t take effect in cornerstone… which obviously defeats the purpose.
March 23, 2016 at 6:21 pm #850303Hi there,
There is no ETA yet, but you may stay tuned 🙂
About the text editor and cornerstone, yes, that’s not possible. It’s simple due to formatting, and any change introduced through text editor could corrupt the content hence breaking the cornerstone as well. And to avoid that, all changes created in a text editor will reset when you switch back to the cornerstone.
It’s the issue we’re trying avoid since Visual Composer, and any wrong formatting can break everything. At least with cornerstone, you still get the data intact when you switch.
Thanks.

March 31, 2016 at 10:21 pm #861880++Yes vote. How many pages of votes are needed to make this happen? Seriously people have been asking for 2 years!

Thank for the feedback! All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive. Please bear with us.

April 6, 2016 at 2:27 pm #869937Quick update: This is something we wan’t to solve, and will be under consideration while we redesign the existing template management interface. We want to be very careful with any interface changes, as the more controls you have, the more confusing things get. We’ll get this worked out if we can find a way to introduce it in an intuitive way. It could even tie into skeleton mode somehow for selecting sections. We’ll be closing this thread now, as we have more than enough information to move forward.
