    Hi

I am having trouble with Cornerstone. My entire site – all pages and blog posts – were built entirely in Cornerstone. Now, suddenly, everything is in text. I did nothing to change this.

I understand that switching between Cornerstone and text means I lose everything, which is why I did not do this. As far as I can tell, the only support for this problem is “Sorry, please build all your pages again.”

My problem is that, even if I rebuild all my pages in Cornerstone, what guarantee do I have that it won’t happen again?

To make matters worse, when I try to switch back to Cornerstone, it refreshes the page, but just reverts to the text tab again. It essentially ignores my wish to work in Cornerstone.

Wordpress, X, Cornerstone, and all other plugins are up to date. I even deactivated all plugins to see if that doesn’t solve the problem, but it doesn’t.

    What can I do?

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! Sorry to see of the issues your having here. It looks like somehow the content has been edited outside of Cornerstone causing the issue.

Can you please clear your caching plugin, disable the caching plugin, remove the code it adds to your wp-config.php and .htaccess file, then disable your optimize plugin, and then see if it will load Cornerstone?

If it still doesn’t, please check your database under the post_meta table, there should be a meta key with the value of “_cornerstone_data” can you check if that still exists please? 🙂

    Thank you!

An extension of the problem: when I create a new blog post or new page I set it to Cornerstone editor. When I publish the page it resets to WordPress text editor. When I try to edit it with Cornerstone the Cornerstone loading page just keeps spinning.

Other times everything works fine and I am able to create the post in Cornerstone. Why is Cornerstone only working on some posts?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I have now done all the changes you suggested, but Cornerstone still doesn’t want to load.

As for the post_meta table, all I see are the values as per the screenshot attached.

    Thanks again for your help!

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing back and the additional information! 🙂

In this case, could you provide us with FTP and cPanel (for phpmyadmin access) login details in a private reply please, so we can further debug what’s happening here.

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing back!

I’ve tried to login with the ftp but get a incorrect login error (screenshot attached), and when trying to access phpmyadmin, it requires a username and password for the database, which I can’t access without FTP, as it’s in the wp-config.php.

If you could double check the provided details please. 🙂

    Thank you!

We have just release a new version of cornerstone.

Please update cornerstone plugin and see if that fixes the issue.

    Hi

That seems to have solved the issue of new posts. When I assign them to Cornerstone they remain in Cornerstone and don’t revert back to text.

The original posts and pages that I built in Cornerstone are still in text, however. Are they lost forever now?

Since I am not the one who changed them from Cornerstone to text, what guarantee do I have that this sort of thing won’t happen again?

    Hi

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately WordPress revisions keeps everything in text, no matter how far back I go.

It seems no matter what I do I am going to lose some data.

Many thanks for all your help with this!

    Hi there,

Have you tried to check with your host because most possibly, they can do a roll back to the database content.

Please feel free to let us know how it goes.

    Hi

I have many back-ups of the database and can roll back any time, but then I would lose all the new posts I have added. So unless there is a way to save the new posts, no matter which route I choose I will be losing some content.
