tma_daveParticipantHi,
I was a Convertplug customer before recently switching to the X theme last week. All my opt-in forms worked before the switch, but now, although they still display, they don’t submit. Clicking the submit button makes the progress icon show for a couple of seconds, but then the opt-in form redisplays.I’ve tried deleting Convertplug and the Connect plugin and reinstalling them, creating new ‘connects’ to my mail provider (Convertkit) and setting the opt-in forms to use them, disabling my minification plugin, purging caches, etc, but nothing seems to be working.
Help? You can see an example (either the in-content opt-in, or the slide-in opt-in near the sidebar) at: https://toomanyadapters.com/buying-sim-card-usa/

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks for posting in.
It seems to be working, it redirects me to the “Almost there” page.

tma_daveParticipantJust to save some time on the troubleshooting, I thought I’d add the following:
– the problem exists on my dev site as well
– even after disabling all plugins except ConvertPlug and Connect, clearing cache etc, the problem remains (on dev and live sites)
– I notice a 403 error from admin-ajax.php appear in the Chrome console after clicking the submit button, but I can’t really tell what that error is caused by, or if it’s related.March 11, 2017 at 3:06 pm #1403288
RadModeratorHi there,
Been testing and the ajax result returns forbidden, there is no error, it’s not just allowed. Would you mind backing up your site before I proceed for more test? I will have to disable all other plugins and change configuration.
Or to make it safer, please clone your site to staging where I can test and free breaking it 🙂
Thanks!

RadModeratorHi there,
You don’t need to provide your local dev site, you can just clone your site into your site’s sub-folder/sub-domain and there, I could test it. And yes, that’s why staging is really needed since your site is live, breaking it may take time to fix even if you have a backup since I can’t restore it right away.
Thanks.

tma_daveParticipantMy hosting plan for that site only allows a single WordPress install, so I can’t clone it there unfortunately. If there are specific things you’d like me to try on the dev site, though, please let me know and I’m happy to do so.
Alternatively, I do have another host that allows multiple WP installs, so I can try to clone it to there. It might take quite a while, though, due to various limitations, so if you have things for me to try in the meantime, that’d be great.

RadModeratorHi there,
Ah, that will do 🙂
And maybe we can use it comparison if this issue is host related. Let me know when the clone is available. Mostly, forbidden error is caused by host or security blocking it.
Thanks!

tma_daveParticipantJust updating to let you know that for now, I’ve disabled all Convertplug opt-in forms on the live site, and replaced the inline one with a standard Convertkit form (which works fine). I’m traveling for the next two weeks, and didn’t want to leave broken opt-ins on the site while I do it. The dev site is still active for troubleshooting, though.

LelyModeratorHello Dave,
I would suggest to check if your main server IP address is not blocked on Mailchimp network but then when I checked again it is working already. See attached screenshot.

tma_daveParticipantI had also logged a ticket with Convertplug, and it looks like they found the problem and fixed it a couple of hours earlier. Thanks so much for trying to resolve it, and when I find out the details of the fix, I’ll update this thread for the benefit of others.
