I’m having some difficulty with contact 7. My clients are indicating they get an error message that says the following: “Sorry, there was an error. Please be sure Javascript and Cookies are enabled in your browser and try again.”

Now, I have seen this, too. Oddly, though, it happens sporadically. I try it on my cell phone it the error message appears. I try it on the desktop and the same thing happens. Then I go into admin panel and I open the contact form 7 and then run it again while I am logged in and it seems to run fine.

I looked for some threads on this issue and it says something about it but it is over a year old. Any help on this?

    Thanks,
    Robin

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! First of all, you could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes.
    Thanks!

That’s really not very helpful. You have the contact 7 as part of your cornerstone configuration setup. As such, you should be aware of these issues and be ahead of the game, so to speak. I don’t have a lot of plugins for one of the sites that has this particular problem. In point of fact, it has no plugin outside of what you provide in the cornerstone package. The other site that displays this problem has a ton of plugins, yet it exhibits the same issue in precisely the same manner

I would presume you have had this issue with other clients that use Contact 7. I would ask that you provide me a little more support in this case. I haver received excellent support from your team for a few years now and that is the reason I keep coming back to using the X Theme, so I would expect the same treatment with this issue.

    Thanks,
    Robin

Apparently, I may have discovered the issue. Here is a link to a site that explains the use of WP-SpamShield: http://www.redsandmarketing.com/plugins/wp-spamshield/troubleshooting-guide/. I would recommend highly that if you continue to offer Contact 7, you may want to work out a solution with them or offer a different email plugin.

    Hey Robin,

Like WooCommerce, Contact Form 7 is not a plugin bundled with X. It is only an Approved Plugin. See https://community.theme.co/kb/version-compatibility/. We have no control over it regarding this issue so it would be best if you contact their support. X offers styling of the forms only and don’t have features that affects its functions.

    Thanks.
