Hi Guys, I used X before and it came with Revolution Slider, which was fantastic to use and fully responsive. When I installed X for a new project, I noticed after the installation, there were no plugins.
I looked on the forum and I saw people saying they were uploading them manually from the folder. So I uploaded what I thought would the revolution slider but instead have something called Slider Revolution, which is absolutely terrible. Trying to size the slides is a real pain, Revolution Slider just worked every time.
There is also no longer a slider option in the customizer ?
My other site, which I did the previous installation from a couple of years back, still has the revolution slider and it still appears in the customizer.
Has something gone wrong with my installation or do plugins not auto install any more ? Has the excellent revolution slider been replaced by this horrible thing?

A little update to this post. To be honest, I have given up with the new version of X and uploaded the version I had before, with the Revolution Slider. I’m sure somewhere along the way, your latest version must have incorporated changes that seemed important but I’m going to stick with something I know how to work with.

Thanks for writing in!
First of all Revolution Slider was being renamed by their creators. It is now called Slider Revolution. You can check their website here: http://revolution.themepunch.com/.
You can also check out the changelog and update history here:
http://codecanyon.net/item/slider-revolution-responsive-wordpress-plugin/2751380
http://www.themepunch.com/revslider-doc/update-history/In our latest X release, the slider will be activated as soon as you install X. This is because not everyone needs a slider. They might only need a simply one page navigation website and with this consideration, we have remove the auto installation of the slider plugin. If ever a user wants to install it, he can go to X Addons > Extensions section. This is where you can install all the bundled plugin that has been supported in X.
Since you were accustomed to the old version of X, please check out our changelog (https://theme.co/changelog/) to be familiar and know what has changed in X over the years.
Hope this explains it briefly. Thank you for your understanding.
February 6, 2016 at 5:15 am #782888Hi
Thanks very much for your reply, could I just ask you a couple of questions please.
When I downloaded the latest version of X yesterday, I completed the API key which of course would mean that the new version of X is updated. If I delete the new X theme and install the old one in it’s place, I guess you wouldn’t have a problem with that because I have paid for another license? If I decide to do this, would you be ok with that?
I’m guessing hopefully that because I have removed the original X folder, the auto update would not happen? Or do I need to do something else to stop it trying to update?
The final question is if I decide to get my head around using the latest version of X, would the older Revolution Slider (which I still have in my original X folder) work OK with this?
Many thanks
Damien
February 6, 2016 at 3:43 pm #783456Hi Damien,
That’s okay, you can delete them anytime, not limit 🙂
Yes the older revolution should be okay, but, if you have issues with older version and fixed from recent version then you’ll have to update it.
Thanks.
