Michael PParticipantHi,
I want the slider on the site I’m developing to blend seamlessly with the background colour of the site (#ffd500).
I’ve carefully created an image that has a gradient applied at the bottom so that it blends. I’ve checked the gradient to be sure it matches the background – it matches exactly.
However, I’m seeing a subtle colour discrepancy in the area immediately below the slider. There is a narrow band which is a slightly different colour, and distracts from the seamless blend effect.
I’ve checked the colour band with the Mac’s Digital Color Meter, and it seems to be #ffd900 – I have no instances of #ffd900 anywhere on the site, so I can’t figure out where it’s coming from.
Could you kindly take a look for me? The issue is easier to see in Chrome.
Many thanks.

Michael PParticipantHi,
It’s definitely there. The easiest way to see it is to scroll up so that the bottom of the slide (just underneath where it says “based on a true story”) sits underneath the navbar – that way you can see a hard comparison between the two colours.
It’s a narrow band, perhaps 30px deep. Take a look here:

Michael PParticipantApologies for the confusion, I think I’ve figured out the problem.
Although it was invisible on my mac when creating the image, it looks like some banding has been introduced to the gradient as a result of image compression.
The trade-off is that now the background image is larger than I’d like it to be, but at least the effect has disappeared.
Thanks for your help.
