I’m unable to delete elements from a client’s website that I created using the X theme (http://www.tworivershealth.ca/). I found from the forums that it’s probably because wordpress just updated and I haven’t updated XTheme yet, but I’m not sure if it’s safe for me to update. It was one of my first websites using a wordpress theme, and I’m not sure if I created a child theme properly (or at all really). Is there a way to check if I’ve done it correctly and, if not, to convert it to a child theme before I update anything? Thank you.

    Hi There,

    Thanks for writing in.

To check your setup why you are unable to delete, please share us your admin credentials so we could check your setup closer.

Don’t forget to set it as private reply. Usually, this cause because of your theme is outdated and you are using the latest versions of plugins. To update you could follow the link below.

    https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/

Update does not cause any problem if you did not have any customization in your theme files. If you did edit some theme files, it will be overwritten with the update. To prevent any overwrite, you need to install child theme.

For guide on how to setup child theme:

    https://community.theme.co/kb/how-to-setup-child-themes/

For more guide about customization, you could check the link below:

    Hope it helps.

let us know how it goes.

    Thanks.

    Hi There,

Do you remember if you access your website via FTP and made changes to PHP files from your Parent X Theme?

If not, you are good to go.

If you did this changes, you would need to know yourself.

It is very unlikely you did any of this changes if you dont remember.

Backup your website in any case 🙂

    Hope that helps

    Joao
