Topic: Change the word portfolio-item in the URL?

My site is http://www.DesktopGremlins.com

All of my portfolio items are paper craft projects. So for SEO, I am wondering can I set it so the URL would say something like THIS:

http://desktopgremlins.com/papercraft/steam-santa/

Instead of this?

http://desktopgremlins.com/portfolio-item/steam-santa/

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in. You can change the setting for the “portfolio-item” slug via the customizer.

Appearance > Cuztomize > Portfolio > Custom URL Slug

Change it to “portfolio-item” to “papercraft” or anything you like. see below:

Hi there,

You can use the Redirection plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/) to set your 301 redirects. Basically you can point your old page URLs to new pages. So that the search engines will pickup the new URLs only.

Alternatively you can edit your “.htaccess” file and set your 301 redirects. You can get more information about this from the following link (http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/redirects/setting-up-a-301-permanent-redirect-via-htaccess).
