    Hi,

I haven’t logged in to my dashboard or made any changes to my site for a couple of weeks now and when I tried to login today I got this error message on the WP login page:

ERROR: Cookies are blocked due to unexpected output. For help, please see this documentation or try the support forums.

There is also a 404 message at the top of each page of my site.

I contacted my host and they said this:

“It looks like it’s generating the following error:

PHP Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/hiddengl/public_html/genevamountaintransfers.com/wp-content/themes/x-child-integrity-dark/functions.php:1) in /home/hiddengl/public_html/genevamountaintransfers.com/wp-login.php on line 431
    ——————————–

That functions.php file doesn’t appear to contain everything that it should. You may need to download a new copy of the x-child-integrity-dark theme and replace that file to fix this.
It does appear to be an error in the theme, yet. Mostly it’s just an issue with this specific file. If you disable the theme it should give you access to try re-installing it.”

I do not have the expertise to deal with this problem and wonder if it is something you can help with as otherwise I am not really sure what to do!

I really hope you can help, many thanks.

A white screen usually means there is a fatal PHP error. Can you please enable WP_DEBUG mode? You can do this by opening wp-config.php and adding
define( 'WP_DEBUG' , true ); just above /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ For example:

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

When you revisit the page with the white screen, you should have some error output describing the issue in more detail.

I’m not sure what you mean by white screen, I can’t actually log in to my site at all?! And I am not really comfortable with adding code in as have never done it. I made the whole site just in the editor so am no expert I’m afraid!! Is it a theme problem or something else do you think?

    Hi there,

Your child theme’s functions.php contains “404” string. Fixed it for you, but can’t help you retrieving any codes that was there. You should be more careful of uploading and editing files, as this is only possible by overwriting existing contents 🙂

    Cheers!

Hi, thanks for sorting it! The thing is I haven’t uploaded or edited any files so I don’t really understand what happened. Please let me know if you can shed any light on this as I don’t want it to happen again! Many thanks.

    Hi There,

We don’y really know about this as we do not simply manage your server, you might want to ask assistance from your server if they can able to track activity of that certain file like when it was last modified.

    I hope this clarifies,

    Have a great day
