Can’t install Extensions, geting “ERROR 403 – FORBIDDEN from Host Gator.

    What can I do ?
Have alternative ways to install Extensions ?

    I search nas find it:

    https://github.com/thomasgriffin/TGM-Plugin-Activation/issues/187

    and it

It has come to our attention that some users who
are with HostGator are having issues installing Extensions. It has been
reported that they receive a 403 error page. We have looked into this and
discovered it is a problem with HostGator’s server configuration. They are
blocking remote file downloads that originate from Amazon S3, which is
where we host all of our products. X relies on the TGMPA library for our
extensions system, and there have been reports from other users as well
which you can see here. We’re looking into any solutions, however it is a
configuration issue on their end. If you’re experiencing this, you may wish
to contact HostGator to see if they can lift the restriction for you and/or
opt to install the plugins manually as outlined directly above, however
automatic updates will not work for situations like this since it is due to
a server configuration with HostGator. One known solution is contacting
HostGator support chat and making this request: “Please whitelist rule ID
    1234234″

But I don’t know what to do.

    Hi There,

Thank you for writing in! You can contact HostGator support here and ask to whitelist rule ID 1234234.

You can also install the extension manually. In the main X Theme folder that you downloaded from ThemeForest, you can locate the “x-shortcodes.zip” file under (“X/framework/plugins/”). Then unzip the plugin file and use a FTP Client software (FileZilla Client) to upload it into your server (“ROOT/wp-content/plugins/”) folder.

Once you have uploaded it into the server, login to your WordPress back-end and head over to the Plugins -> Installed plugins to activate the plugin.

    Hope that helps. Cheers!

    FYI –

I found out that most cPanel hosting accounts have a ModSecurity option. If needed you can disable ModSecurity on your domain to install X Extensions, then turn it back on. You can do this without having the host whitelist the rule. Once again this is just an option if you don’t want to wait for your host to do it, or if they won’t do it at all.

I had the same issue as above. I contacted HostGator and they advised me that they can’t whitelist because my site is not yet pointing towards the server (I’m currently building the site from scratch and it’s not ready to go live so I am setting it up under a development site). They also suggested changing the .htaccess file slightly but this didn’t rectify the issue.

Is there a way to get around this without “pointing to the server”?

    Thanks

    Hi Jim,

Please note that you need to validate your copy first before being able to access the extensions page.

Can you provide us the url of your dev site.

Please refer to the link below for your guide on how to validate your copy

    https://community.theme.co//kb/product-validation/

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Jim,

It is not possible to validate an IP address. You’ll need to use an actual domain name to validate your website.

    Thanks!
