Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! The step you mentioned is to disable cornerstone from appearing as an option to use the visual builder. Cornerstone itself can’t be deactivated or deleted with X theme active as it is a required plugin. X needs Cornerstone to run properly, because CS has the shortcodes and other functionalities inside it besides the visual builder.

If you really need to delete it, you need to either temporarily switch out of X (not recommended as you may lose customizer settings – export a backup of it via Customizer manager if you plan to do it this way) and then deactivate and delete it. Or the other way is to do it via FTP. Go to your plugins directory and delete the cornerstone folder.

Having said that, Cornerstone is a required plugin, let us know why you are needing to delete it and we’ll try to assist you with a solution to your issue.

I’m trying to delete it because visual composer support is saying thats the plugin that is giving me the external icon loading when i try to edit my site using the frontend editor with visual composer.

The vc_preloader is not working and by deleting it in inspect mode in chrome the frontend editor works fine and i can edit it.

The issue is because there is an inbuilt version of Visual Composer (or the related code) present in your theme which is overriding the standalone plugin version and hence causing the issue. You will have to get rid of it. I would advise you to do so with the help of theme author, otherwise you might loose the extra elements added by him. Once this is done, you can install the standalone plugin and it will work fine. Let us know,

i’ve deactivated all plugins, increased site memory to 512mb in php.ini restarted the vps server, updated all themes and VC to latest.
nothing works, VC comes with theme x but i still bought a damn license hoping it would fix it, and still it wont wasted half the day on this and totally over it, need it fixed asap.
this issue is only affecting pages that where created in the last day or two, older pages from a couple of weeks ago work fine in the frontend editor.

Can you confirm that you are fully updated? (Theme and Plugins)

The latest version numbers as of this time are: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

Visual Composer v4.9.2 – this is the version that is currently supported by xtheme (https://community.theme.co/kb/integrated-plugins-visual-composer/)

Thanks for providing the credentials. We cannot do much checking in your site since the given credentials has a very limited access to your dashboard. Cornerstone cannot be deactivated in your site. To run X smoothly, you need to install Cornerstone plugin and have it activated. All the shortcodes and its functionalities has been integrated in this plugin. If you want to use the the vanilla version of Visual Composer and want to remove X integration within Visual Composer, you do not need to delete anything. Simply go to the Visual Composer Settings > X Integration and disable it (http://prntscr.com/add9fq)
