after another learning curve 🙂
i’m able to get the functionality I’m looking for

BUT real quick, here is a better description of the needs for (anyone) trying to get conversions from an exiting visitor:

1) exit intent (as I learned that is the concept I was going after)
2) opens a modal window (popup)
3) the box can be an iframe, html, image and have functionality on it (social/signup)
4) tracking, analytics, etc.

complete flexibility is a big requirement, the more flexible/custom the content/window can be,
the more you can test and figure out what converts the best.
