    Though I would share this with the community.

    After searching the KB’s and referencing a couple postings I still could not upload my ico files for my site icon. In researching, I found that there is a WP v4.7.1 bug causing this. The solution was in this article https://wordpress.org/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-4-7-master-list/#post-8521428 (towards the bottom) telling us to download a workaround plugin – Disable Real MIME Check – until v4.7.3 is released. Screenshot attached.

    I installed the plugin and “wala” ico files uploaded. Woo Hoo

    Your welcome. Glad to be able to give back to the community after receiving so much!

    My ico file did upload and I have it set in customizer (152 x152 .ico) and the correct file path but the ico is not showing on the browser bar for some reason (screenshot attached).

    Thoughts?

    Hey there,

    Favicon might not show immediately due to cache. You can try from other browser and give us your URl so that we can check as well.

    Cleared cache but no change. Also, clarification – I have my touch icon path set to the .ico file and have the image set to a .png (if I understood the directions). The Tile is set to a 144 x144 .png

    Yep. Noticed that. Guess I needed to be patient. Fo others benefit i took a couple hours (not sure how many – overnight) for the .ico to show up.
