I am sometimes noticing that when a page is loading it is always waiting on 0.Gravatar.com. Is there any way to turn this off?
Many thanks,

Go to your wordpress Settings > Discussion > Avatar Display > uncheck Show Avatars.
Thanks!
May 29, 2014 at 1:33 pm #49983My Show Avatars check box is unchecked, but I still often see “waiting for s.gravatar.com” while the page tries to load. Anything else I can do to get rid of this? Thx, Christopher
May 29, 2014 at 8:33 pm #50192Hi Chris,
I just tried on my setup and I don’t see any request to gravatar.com after disabling it. Could you try clearing your plugin cache and browser cache?
Thank you.
May 29, 2014 at 8:53 pm #50196I will, but oddly it doesn’t happen all the time.
May 29, 2014 at 9:32 pm #50206I flushed everything I could, but pingdom tells me I’m still querying gravitas.com.
May 30, 2014 at 4:22 am #50275Can you please post the URL of your website?
May 30, 2014 at 4:59 am #50286Apologies. Should have done that in the first place . . . I’ve asked enough questions here!
Thx, Christopher

May 30, 2014 at 11:58 pm #50605Hi there,
Are you using the jetpack plugin by any chance?
Please try deactivating plugins one by one as it could be a some plugin calling that URL.Thanks!
May 31, 2014 at 10:28 am #50658I disabled Jetpack, which did the trick. I was only using it for WordPress.com page stats. Any suggestions for another way to keep track of visits? Thx, Christopher
June 1, 2014 at 2:09 am #50840Hey Chris,
We recommend using Google Analytics for that. You can use your GA code in the Customizer > Custom > Javascript or you can use Google Analytics for WordPress. We don’t recommend other plugins because that would mean an extra process for your WordPress site.
Hope that helps. 🙂
