    I have 2 old files
    sitename-xcs.json
    sitename.wordpress.2015-07-14.xml

    Can I use these files with a new install of X theme
    to resurrect the old site?

    Thanks for writing in! You can use them for sure but if they are from very older setup then might not work a expected.
