I have a need to create pages on my site that list the posts of only a selected category. I don’t see a way to do this where I can get more than just four posts (using the ‘Recent Posts’ element). I’d like to get pagination so that I can have all of the posts of that category available, in descending order, like you would read a standard blog page.

I also want to be able to show the excerpt for the post, without the featured image. Once again, the ‘Recent Posts’ element appears to let me remove the featured image but does not provide an option to show the post excerpt (ideally with a “read more” link after each excerpt). I’ve been able to do this with themes I’ve used in the past but can’t figure out how to achieve this with X.

    I’m using the Integrity Stack.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for writing in!

You can use multiple Recent Posts elements and use offset- http://prntscr.com/aluxgf

For example for the second element you can add 4 as offset so it will skip the first four posts that already shown on first Recent Posts element.

To enable excerpt in Recent Posts, you can follow this thread – https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/recent-posts-excerpts/#post-307559

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Thanks. While I appreciate your help and the quick response, these really aren’t viable solutions because this forces an all or nothing choice. If I don’t want the excerpts on a particular page but do on another, I’m out of luck.

And combining recent posts elements to get around the 4 max display option is a band-aid. It doesn’t give me pagination to list as many posts as I have in that category on separate pages like the blog page template allows.

Reading through posts as old as 2 years on here, it seems like we’ve been led to believe the capability to have category-based blog-style pages was coming. Sadly that doesn’t appear to be the case.

    Hi there,

Thanks for updating. Certainly the suggested workarounds are not viable solutions I admit but still might be useful while the features are not available right now. This is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.

    Cheers!
