Hello,
When I use the Disqus plugin from Disqus there is a link under the Comments Section in the sidebar that takes me straight to my Disqus dashboard to manage comments (on the Disqus website).
When I use the X-Disqus Comments plugin, I see no such link anywhere. Am I missing something?
If not, (if there is no link) then what are the pros and cons of using the X-Disqus Plugin over the Disqus plugin made by Disqus?
TIA
January 6, 2017 at 8:59 pm #1319731Hi there,
Thanks for writing in.
You can still manage it within your Disqus account as long as it matches the name.
Thanks.
January 6, 2017 at 10:48 pm #1319773Hello? That was not the question. I KNOW that. I AM managing it!
The questions are once again:
- What are the pros and cons of using the X-Disqus Plugin over the Disqus plugin made by Disqus?
- Why does the X-Disqus Plugin not provide a link as part of it?
I am assuming from your above reply that X-Disqus Plugin does not provide a link.
January 7, 2017 at 3:49 am #1319987Hi there,
Sorry for the confusion.
1. It’s a light implementation of Disqus API. If you prefer the simple implementation of it, then it can be considered pros. And cons if you prefer fully featured Disqus system. It depends on your preference.
2. Again, it’s a simple implementation of Disqus API provided by Disqus itself. Disqus have their own plugin with many added feature, they develop it that’s why you wouldn’t see those features on other plugins ( plugins that only relies on Disqus API ).
If you’re referring to post with links, yes, it doesn’t have that feature.
Thanks.
January 7, 2017 at 1:31 pm #1320361Thanks Rad.
Just two clarifications
- No. I am NOT referring to post with links.
- I have attached images so you (and other users) can see the LINK to the Disqus dashboard that the Disqus plugin offers.
- And the lack thereof in your extremely “light” implementation of the Disqus API
Can I then delete – entirely remove – the X-Disqus plugin?
Seems to just clutter up my plugin list since it is so light that it is barely functional.
January 7, 2017 at 1:46 pm #1320379Please escalate this last comment up to the development and management teams.
I would rather that X-Theme simply DOES NOT have “Addons” like this if they are going to be this lousy.
I have wasted a lot of precious time checking this X-Theme Disqus Plugin out because I TRUSTED X.
The end result of this is that I TRUST X A WHOLE LOT LESS now!
That is not the feeling you want to create!!
January 7, 2017 at 11:48 pm #1320774Hi there,
Yes, you may remove the plugin. It’s an optional plugin and not really meant to replace any existing plugin especially the plugin from Disqus developer itself. As there no point re-inventing the same thing with same purpose and features, it’s just the additional option for the users that prefer the simpler implementation.
I’ll forward this to our developer.
Thanks!
