    Hey, there.

ISSUE: Using the Icon 1 theme with child theme to build site BBPress was working just fine, then all of a sudden the tab “Forum” on the “Search” Forum page (looks like Forums > Search >) redirects back to homepage. What is even more is over the course of an hour then the Search function started reverting back to the homepage though it worked minutes before and then even clicking a topic header link reverted back to the homepage though that too was working right before. Now it seems basically any tab/link clicked in relation to a BBPress related anything goes back to the homepage.

I tried the BBPress Forums, but no response from anyone yet (24 hours) so I wanted to see if someone has had this issue and can point me in the right direction. I am no developer, so my base knowledge is weak at best on how to even go about looking into this issue.

I’ve tried deactivating most recent plugins (as the links worked from the beginning until just recently) And reinstall the BBPress again after deleting files through host etc.

One thought: Might it have compromised BBPress when I recently installed Redux Framework Plugin? I had to for a Likes button plugin. Seemed like this one might be a conflicting plugin of some sort especially with X or BBPress? Just a guess as this and a Like Plugin seems to be about when the problem started. I tried deactivating these, but that didn’t change anything.

    Any suggestions welcomed!

    Hi there,

Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

Please keep all other plugins disabled while we’re investigating.

After I did the that first reinstall of BBPress it came up with their “Cheatin huh?” error page thinking I wasn’t the admin any longer at the settings page. Just a heads up.

    Hello There,

The given credentials is not working for us. Please double check it.

For the meantime, when installing bbPress, you might need to update the Permalinks by going to Settings > Permalinks.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Hi there,

Please navigate to Dashboard > Settings > Forums in Single Forum Slugs section, replace search with find or something else you want.

But at this time since you can’t make any changes to this page, please try following solutions :

    – Deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – Switching to the Twenty Sixteen theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – Re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Hope that helps.

The plugin Rublon, a security plugin was the one stopping from accessing the Forum Settings page. I deactivated that.

Now the second issue – I tried changing slug names but that didn’t seem to do anything as far as correcting the links going always back to the homepage.

    Any further suggestions?

    Hello Lexya,

This is because you have space on Forum Root Slug. I’ve change it from forum root to forum-root. See attached screenshot about the update I made. The search is now working. Please note that for SLUG use dash instead of space.

    Cheers!

Oh man. That was so easy it hurts.

I’m not sure how I ever changed that, must have made a mistake. Wish BBPress had better info for novices like me to fix such an easy thing as a dash missing. Whoops.

Thanks X! I appreciate the help!
