    Hi,

Thanks for all the support so far. This is really a great wordpress theme, but unfortuantely it is not suitable for my requirement of handling vertical images in better way. As you explained due to responsive design , X will try to fill up full area width even if it is a vertical image. The problem is in any art/ photogrgphy website vertical images should be shown in a page such a way viewer will not need to scroll.
Is this type of functionality can be added in X or can be achieved by tweaking code a little? Added Logic should be like this – If actual image size is greater than 800 pixel in height, show actual image instead of responsiveness code behaviour.

    As example – http://avishekroy.com/?x-portfolio=lake

Could you please suggest If any anything like this could be done? As I said before , I really like this theme, but portfolio view of portrait/vertical image is kind of deal breaker to me. 🙁

Thanks a lot for all help

    Hey Avishek,

Thanks for writing in and we’re sorry that you’re experiencing this with the theme. Just to make sure I understand you correctly, you’re saying if a photo is greater than 800px, you want it to do what? You mention, “show actual image instead of responsiveness code behaviour,” but I’m not entirely certain what you mean by that. X is a responsive design, and there is no way to turn this off. Are you wanting the image to be cropped off at 800px, is that what you’re saying?

Let me know when you have a chance.

    Thanks!

Thanks. No I did not mean to ‘cropped off at 800px’ , I said If image is in portrait format ( vertical) , then I want to show the image in such a way that fits entire screen
vertically, not horizontally. so that viewer does not need to do scrolling.

    Thanks

On a second thought, Is there any hack/code tweak is possible so that I post my photo in gallery as Image ( media type)
and Keep ‘featured content’ as media and still can show that image in portfolio index page as thumbnail ?

Vertical photo looks perfect in this way, but nothing is showing in the portoflio index except portfolio name. Is it possible to show thumbnail there without setting that image as ‘featured image’ in portoflio?

    Thanks

    Hey Avishek,

did you set a featured image? Make sure to delete the image in the content area once you’ve added it.

    Hey Avishek,

I am not completely following. Why don’t you set a featured image? Then you will have the image displayed on the index page. Just remove the image from the content area and solely use the featured item?

As I mentioned before If I set featured image, in case of vertical ( portrait format) image , it will try to cover whole width ( due to responsive layout) which is making image very big. So viewer needs to scroll to see whole image. But If I keep vertical images in post ( as media) instead of featured image, I can control the size.
But then the problem is I am missing the thumbnail in the portfolio index page. So my question was if there is any way I can show thumbnail in index page without setting that image as featured inside post.

Sorry for back and forth, but is it clear now what i am trying to say?

    Thanks

    Hey there,

I do believe I’m following now. Due to the designs of the portfolio, there is no way to show the content within the post on the index page as they are designed differently to showcase the featured image. If you want to modify the theme to show your content on the index page, you will need to update some template files utilizing a child theme.

    Thanks.
