I am having difficulty updating to the current version of X Theme and get the error message “An error occurred while updating X: Update package not available.” I will provide admin access credentials in a separate message for you to log in and take a look. I just backed up the site.

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! You’re using an older version of X theme & Cornerstone plugin. Please update your X theme & Cornerstone plugin for once and validate if necessary, so that you should be able to from here onwards.

You can see the latest version numbers from here (https://community.theme.co/kb/version-compatibility/).

Let us know how it goes.
    Thanks!

    Hi There,

Please revoke and re-validate your site with the steps below.

1] Please go to X Addons > Home and revoke the validation (https://s3.amazonaws.com/community-themeco/app/uploads/2016/04/17110514/Capture53.jpg).
2] Please login to your account and revoke the license.
3] After you have revoke the license, you need to re assign the license again to your site. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
4] Go back to X Addons > Home again, and insert the purchased code again.

Let us know how it goes.

    Cheers!

When I go to X Addons > Home in my WP Admin panel for this site, I do not see a screen as shown in your link above, but rather the a screen like the one in the image attached. I have provided admin credentials in a previous post for you to login and verify and review all of these things. Please advise.

    Hi There,

    You may try updating manually.

I followed all of the instructions to manually update. It appears that the X Theme update processed properly. After updating Cornerstone, however, when I open a page for editing in Cornerstone, I do not get the wysiwyg preview, but a listing of content blocks instead. Please advise.

I provided login credentials previously. Please use them as needed to help resolve this issue.

    Thanks,

    Del

    Hi there,

    1. The installed cornerstone is still 1.1.3, it should be 1.3.3
    2. Your new version of X theme is installed at /wp-content/themes/x/x/ it should be just /wp-content/themes/x/
    3. It will only install the correct version of cornerstone if you correct the X theme folder path
    4. Maybe you were confused by the two theme and activated the old one which still installed the 1.1.3 🙂

    Thanks!

I followed the instructions at https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/ as you requested. If they are followed exactly as written, it will cause the new version of x-theme to be installed /wp-content/themes/x/x/, as we have come to learn. The step in the instructions at the URL above titled “MANUAL X UPDATE VIA FTP” lists step one as “Unzip x.zip on your computer.” This creates a folder called “x”, however the theme files are included in a folder INSIDE this folder, also called “x”. Following step number 2 in the manual FTP installation instructions, “Rename the x folder to x-updating.” is where the problem occurs. The folder “x” INSIDE the folder “x” is the proper file to be renamed and used for the installation. Please correct the instructions so that others trying to use the incorrect process do not spend days trying to get their theme updated as I have. Thanks.

    Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! We really appreciate the feedback. We will forward your message to the person in charge with our knowledge base.

Moving on to the Cornerstone updating, I tried updating Cornerstone but it was not successful. You will need to login to your ftp and delete the cornerstone folder in wp-content/plugins/ folder. After remove the folder, please navigate to X Addons > Extensions and Cornerstone should be automatically installed.

Meanwhile I have set your site Under Maintenance since it is displaying shortcodes because of the absence of Cornerstone. Once this plugin is installed, you can disable the Under Maintenance in X Addons > Under Construction.

Hope this helps. Kindly let us know.

Thanks for pointing this out. I had checked Cornerstone and the live site and both appeared to be functioning properly at that time. Perhaps caching was making it appear so. In any event, I have deleted the cornerstone folder and cornerstone has reinstalled and all appears to be functioning properly. Note that in this case, when I viewed the site before fixing cornerstone, the under construction did not seem to be doing anything and I was seeing all the shortcodes. Again, perhaps this was because of caching. Thanks again for your help.

I might suggest that you put out a general notice that X Theme users should regularly update X Theme and its components as the automated update package is not always backwards compatible when you get multiple versions out-of-date and that manual updating via FTP may be required to get X Theme back up to the most current version.

    Thanks again, Del
