I am working on a WordPress dev site I set up for a client, here:
http://endemol-beyond.piccianeri.com/
Brand new install with latest version of everything.
However, in this new install Essential Grid does not work at all. Whenever I try and save a new grid, I get Ajax Error!!! when I try and save a new grid. So it’s impossible to create any grids.
Then if I try and access the Item Skin Editor, there are no skins (see image attached).
Just in case, I deleted the EG plugin that comes bundled with X, bought new license, uploaded the new plugin – and I get exactly the same
So I went to one of the many sites where I use EG and exported all the skins, but I can’t import them because I get the same Ajax error.Anybody else having the same problem with X and Ess Grid? Is it a conflict to do with the latest WordPress update? I have of course already contacted the plugin’s support, but as it might an X thing, too, I thought I’d ask you too.
Many thanks!
April 28, 2016 at 1:11 pm #904478I am actually pretty desperate as Essential grid is not just essential: it’s vital, crucial, indispensable for this project and I’m right on deadline so please help 🙂
April 29, 2016 at 12:24 am #905191Hi,
You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
If that doesn’t help, would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password
– FTP credentialsDon’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

I had the same issue before, and it’s because it fails to create the valid tables in the database during the installation. Though, it rarely happens.
Basically, you don’t have data for Essential Grid.
To fix it, go to PHPMyAdmin within your hosting’s panel, or any database manager and import this SQL file.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ba3a3ozna5iy98j/ess_grid_tables.sql?dl=0
If you have different table prefix, then you’ll have to edit the SQL file and edit the prefixes before importing in.
Thanks!
May 5, 2016 at 5:28 pm #972251Thanks Rad. Your post has saved my bacon as Essential Grid refused to come with any of the skins nor import the demo content.
I had to import that file through MyPHPAdmin and rename the added tables with the correct prefixes, but after that everything worked.
THANK YOU!!

Feel free to ask us again.
Have a great day! 🙂
May 10, 2016 at 11:24 am #984358I am also experiencing the same problem with Essential Grid, “Ajax Empty Error”. I cannot create any grid at all. Due to this error that I have been late on my last project. I reinstalled to no avenge and the problems have lingered. How do I resolve this?

May 11, 2016 at 1:14 am #985376Hi, me again to confirm that this has happened, again, on a brand new WordPress install with a brand new X theme and absolutely no other plugin installed yet. Ess Grid is completely empty, no skins, impossible to create a grid, impossible to import a grid.
Surely this must be a common issue and not something that rarely happens. It would really help if you could test it, please. Can you please try and do the same, to see whether you get the same problem on the Themeco servers? I am using SiteGround, my friend who also tested this is on A Small Orange, as said in my previous post. Basically I cannot use Ess Grid with ANY fresh X and WP install. Which pretty much a disaster as Ess Grid is my tool of choice (no, I won’t move to the Grid!).
Many thanks for your help – I absolutely need to get to the bottom of this or it will seriously impair my ability to ever use X again, which would be another disaster! I love X and never want to use another theme again.
May 11, 2016 at 3:40 am #985522p.s. I know that I can try the suggested solution, yet it seems a little bit impractical to have to do that for every new site I start working on – I have 3 in the pipeline, and I am basically stuck. Thank you!
May 11, 2016 at 6:29 am #985644Ok that system did indeed work!
And it looks as if the problem is with Ess Grid rather than X as the same thing happens with other themes installed.
Perhaps you could help us by putting pressure on ThemePunch?
Thank you in advance
May 11, 2016 at 8:13 am #985782Hey Piccia,
I’ll forward this to our core developer so he could contact ThemePunch regarding this issue. Please stay tuned.
Thanks.
May 11, 2016 at 12:25 pm #986198Fantastic. Thank you @christian. I did also bring it up again with ThemePunch, so hopefully they’ll look into it!
Thank you so much again
May 11, 2016 at 6:21 pm #986715Sure thing.
Cheers!
