In my wordpress dashboard I updated the x theme this evening. I then noticed that most of the page’s content is stuck up against the left side. It was all centered and in their proper column spaces until something went wrong. Not completely sure if it had something to do with the update. I checked the custom css in the customizer and it is the same as before the update. Not sure what happened and trying to figure it out tonight is giving me a headache. If it’s not one thing it’s another.

Also I noticed that the wpbakery visual composer needs to be updated and there is a link to codecanyon. Is this something I’m going to have to buy to have updated??

Hopefully it’s a simple fix. Thanks in advance.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for writingn in!

When you update your theme, you need to update the bundled plugins(revslider,js_composer,x-shortcodes) too.
This is to ensure that the plugins are compatible with the latest version of the theme.

You don’t have to buy the plugins, the plugin files are available within your theme directory.
    It’s at wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins

    Hope this helps.

Is this something that needs to be done manually via ftp?? The theme update was automatic on the wordpress dashboard, but do I need to manually install the plugin bundle??

I just tried to update the visual composer plugin on the wordpress dashboard.:

    WPBakery Visual Composer
You have version 4.1.3 installed. Update to 4.3.5. View version 4.3.5 details.
    Compatibility with WordPress 4.1: Unknown

And it said there was an error while updating:

An error occurred while updating WPBakery Visual Composer: Update package not available.

    Hi there,

Please update it manually, you can locate the plugin .zip file itself within the theme at /x/framework/plugins/js_composer.zip and install that manually via the WordPress admin panel (i.e. Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin).

If it doesn’t help connect through ftp and replace existing files under wp-content/plugins/js_composer with the files located in /x/framework/plugins/js_composer.zip.

    Hope it helps.

Ok, I got everything updated properly.

However, I’m still having to same problem with the content being pushed to left side of the screen.

Anything I have side by side in columns are all pushed to the left and forced on top of each other.

I have no idea what’s causing this..

    Please help. 🙂

    Hi John,

Are you using any third party plugins for shortcodes, I can’t see if you have X shortcodes activated and updated? Could you verify this. Also are you working with a child theme? does the issue happen if you switch to main theme? I’m trying to narrow the cause of this, so we can get you a solution. It seems your columns aren’t working properly. First Make sure you have X shortcodes installed and activated. IF that doesn’t work check for the following.

Here are some other test I’d need your help to perform.

Test for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

This could also be Cache issue, please clear your browser cache and any caching plugins you may have installed. Switch them off during development as well.

Visual Composer may not be triggering properly, you can try the following:

Deactivate your VC, go to a new or test post or page, make a test change and update. You should be left with just VC code or just shortcodes. Then go back to your plugins and activate VC. Go back to the test post/page and this should reload VC into the editor. use VC backend editor to create a layout to test. ( if you are getting an error about not supported, clear your contents on the test post/page first then try again).

This is just a small workaround that I have found to help at times. Please let us know how this goes, thanks!

X shortcodes is activated and it is version 2.0.9.

I did the plugin deactivation thing and by process of elimination found that when I deactivate WPBakery Visual Composer content on the website seems to center.
Issues point to the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin so far.

I did the VC test you recommended and cleared the whole page of any contents and started again.
    Clean slate.

After adding new content everything is still moved to the left and on top of one another. See here: http://pointwebsitedesign.com/
What you see on the webpage is not how I set it up in vc.
In vc I added 3 rows, each with 2 columns. In the top 2 rows I put a column with an image and a column with text.
In the bottom row I added 2 columns both containing text.
And as you can see on the webpage, it’s all screwed up.

    What’s going on with this?

    Hi John,

    Thank you for writing in!

Upon checking, you are using an outdated version of X theme that’s not compatible with your X Shortcode’s version.

Please update your theme and bundled plugins. You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/x/member/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

You can also review our update guide.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!
