My website looked a little strange after I manually updated the theme. All of the symptoms looked like a WPBakery js_composer issue – incomplete backend editor, edit buttons not working, text missing, etc.

I updated the plugin via WordPress, and it crashed my website until I restored the js_composer folder to one from a slightly older version from a previous version of X.

So, currently, I don’t think I have the “right” version of Visual Composer. No text is showing up on our website (www.cubicsolutions.info) though the layout and images are all in place. Just the text is missing. I can’t figure out how to update/fix safely.

    Help please!? Thank you.

    Hello There,

Thanks for writing in! To run X smoothly, you need to install Cornerstone plugin. All the shortcodes and its functionalities has been integrated in this plugin. You can get this plugin by going to X Addons > Extensions. To know more about Cornerstone, please check it out here: http://theme.co/blog/x-version-4-introducing-cornerstone/

And please make sure that everything is up to date (Theme and Plugins).

    Our latest versions are:
    X Theme: 4.4.1
    Cornerstone: 1.2.2
    Visual Composer: 4.11.1

You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Rue,

I tried updating Visual Composer and it crashed the site so I reverted again back to a js_compoer version 4.7.

I activated Cornerstone and that fixed the initial problem of not seeing any text. However, this plugin seems to slow down my site. WordPress and my website take ages to load, and I can’t seem to edit/add any pages!

I unactivated all plugins and reactivated them one by one. Unfortunately, it seems to be the Cornerstone plugin that’s the problem.

    Help please!?

    A.

Please clear all caches and disable your caching plugin then uninstall Visual Composer and install it again via Addons admin menu.

    Thanks.
