Hey guys – switching over to the page edit to add an A tag kills my ability to switch back to Cornerstone and continue updates. Any easy way to add a link in Cornerstone to the element ‘icon’?
April 3, 2016 at 11:53 pm #865380Hi there,
Thanks for writing in!
In general you can add a text element and add icon shortcode in there, then wrap it within an anchor :
<a href="#">[x_icon type="adjust"][/x_icon]</a> tags.
You can find all icons shortcodes here – http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/shortcodes/icons/
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
April 25, 2016 at 3:01 pm #899230Where do I add in the html? As I mentioned above, I’m working in Cornerstone – switching over to the page edit to add an A tag kills my ability to switch back to Cornerstone and continue updates.

Thanks for writing back!
You can use Text element inside Cornerstone to add the raw HTML code (see: http://i.imgur.com/pQtsYmi.png).
Thank you!
April 26, 2016 at 6:21 pm #901162was looking for an easier solution than deleting all my icons, and re-adding them in text elements…
April 27, 2016 at 8:00 am #902071Hi there Corinne,
Thanks for writing back, unfortunately there isn’t currently a easier solution than using a text element or raw content element.
Though we do have a open feature request to add a linking ability to the icon element.
Thank you!
May 13, 2016 at 4:14 am #989397Hi guys,
This works good. One question about the linking:
When I give the icons a link, you can click on the right mouse button to go over there,
but it doesn’t bring you there by just a simple left-mouse-click.
Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance,

June 25, 2016 at 3:02 pm #1059440Hello everybody,
Yes, I am new and I am unexperienced with wordpress and theme X. I must admit, that I’m a bit disappointed of wordpress an especially of theme X. It is by far more complicated, than propagated. Easy use and easy customizing is only right, when you comply to the minimal standard.
The philosophy behind wordpress and theme X seems to be, why keeping simple, when complicated works the same way. The process of creating a website seems to be much more important than the final result.
What life would really make easier, is non-existent: A toolbox for all the elements in cornerstone, that can be used within a theme,
that enables to place the single elements as desired – on top, bottom or center, left or right,
that can add basic functions like links to the single elements as text, icons, images, video or other graphics,
that enables basic design customization – and all with a few mouse-clicks!This is self-evident in almost every computer program – but not in wordpress.
In theme X, I can only find a small part of this list.I had the same problem, adding a link to an icon. I had to do many trials and at last I found a practicable solution for all, that are not very familiar with coding a website:
You have to use the visual editor instead of the text editor for adding functions to a website element outside of cornerstone, for example adding a link to an icon!
I opened the visual editor instead of the text editor and marked the complete text description of the customized icon and added the link to another page of my website with the link-button of the visual editor.
Then, I opened the text editor to check, what had happened and found: The correct short code at the correct place.
Now, the link works as it should and I am happy.Franz
June 25, 2016 at 9:18 pm #1059697Hi Franz,
Glad it works now.
X theme is a framework, and each framework has its purpose. Unfortunately, this kind of framework is not wizard-type theme where all bloat features are available. Most development is only done on first time and during maintenance or redesign, hence, bloat features shouldn’t be running when you’re done developing your site due to performance issue. I agree that this is quite overwhelming at the very start, but it’s worthy of learning 🙂
We’re always here to help if anything just as long as it’s covered by our capability as X support 🙂
Thanks for understanding.
