2/2016- (way too many old posts with past versions)

I’m a 1st time WP/Themeco user- I don’t understand any of this and have spent 4 full days (about 50 hours so far) trying to build a website w/blog using X Theme and Cornerstone editing and it’s not even half way done.
I have to admit, this is a nightmare for first time users but I want to learn.

I’m trying to create the Read More button that I found on a YouTube video which seems almost imperative for bloggers. He was not using Cornerstone in the video, but I am because I don’t know ANYTHING about code.
Some similar posts mention going into “php” but I don’t know what that is or how to get to it and I can’t find any good videos that help rookies anywhere.

All the videos I’ve been able to find are done with “Tech” language and explanations for those who know what you’re talking about.
Please help those of us who are “tech challenged.” THANKS

    Hi There,

Thanks for writing in! We do exist to help our Customers, specially like you who’s new to X|Theme (and to WP as well). But first we need you to explain (briefly as possible) to us what kind of site you’re wanting to do, and if you do have a site that you want to imitate please provide us that site URL so we can have a better idea. Also please provide us your site URL so we can see what you already have.

You need a read more button for blog posts right? That would require a custom development so you might want to deal with that last.

    Cheers!

    My site is:
    http://www.dezigningmypurpose.com
It’s only in wordpress right now, It’s not live because it’s NOWHERE near ready, so maybe you can’t even see it.
It’s a basic 7-page website where 1 of the pages will be a blog if I can figure out how to make one.
It will have a couple book offers, services offers, a calendar, capture banners/pop-ups to capture emails and build a list of clients and followers. I want to learn to do it myself, but this is crazy!!!
I’m a life/business coach who is finally breaking out on my own so I need a site with a blog.
My site should wind up something like:
    http://www.brendon.com
    http://www.mitchmatthews.com
    http://www.visionxy.com/
    http://tedmcgrathbrands.com/

    PLEASE HELP THE ROOKY’S !!!!!!!

You can import one of our expanded demo content from X Addons page, it gives you idea to create your own website pages.

You can set blog page under Settings -> Reading.

Please check KB pages here : https://community.theme.co/kb/

    Hi there,

Would you mind clarifying those 3 questions? As I’m reading the discussion, it’s all about the read more button right? The other question is too general, we need at least a starting point 🙂

X theme uses default read more functionality, it’s WordPress standard. Read more are only applicable for excerpts or pages that use the reserved <!--more-->. Read more is not applicable for pages/post cornerstone that is built with the cornerstone. It’s WordPress limitation and not with the theme, and due to that limitation, WordPress itself introduced the manual excerpt. That’s where you can display different content instead of cornerstone content when displaying “read more”.

These terminologies are quite big, but if you’re familiar with WordPress then it’s easy to follow. Understanding multiple standards are quite overwhelming for the first time, just do it one at time 🙂

For now, please add some sample posts to your site (you can check it from our knowledge base, post formats, and etc.) and then we can continue discussing the read more button.

    Thanks!
