Hi,
After updating multiple plugins / theme / wordpress I’m having an issue with Slider Revolution not playing the background video in Safari. I am not sure where in the update process the video stopped working. That said, the background video is functional in both Chrome & Firefox.– Theme and all plugins are up to date.
– I deleted the Revolution Slider plugin and re-installed.
– I temporarily disabled all other plugins to see if there was a conflict.
– Slider background is set as transparent.
– I cleared the cache.
– I disabled all safari extensions and restarted.
– I cleared safari history.
– Video is mp4.
– Site is backed up.Safari v9.1
X v4.4.2
Slider revolution v5.2.5Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Upon checking your site on my setup, windows, latest version of safari. it is working properly.
Would you mind sharing us the Operating system that you are using so we could try to check it in a similar setup of yours.

TimApril 26, 2016 at 10:55 am #900547Hey Tim,
Thanks for updating. I have tested your site with Safari 9.1 on my OS X El Capitan and can replicate your issue. It’s not working on my end too.
It seems the issue is with your video (.mp4 version) as it’s not recognizable by Safari somehow. If you open the video (http://appliedcuriosityresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Gerad-Slider-Video-v7.mp4) directly with Safari then it won’t play. If you open a sample .mp4 video (http://mazwai.com/system/posts/videos/000/000/221/preview_mp4_2/discovery_part_II-jonathan_mitchell.mp4) then it will play on browser.
So kindly make sure your video is not somehow corrupted/partially corrupted and recognizable by all browser. Simple try to open the direct video URL with browser to test this.
Cheers!

I believe the issue is with the site – not the video. All .mp4 videos that are uploaded to the site have the same issue. For example:
– I downloaded the “corrupted” file from the WP media library (http://appliedcuriosityresearch.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Gerad-Slider-Video-v7.mp4).
– I uploaded the “corrupted” file to another site (http://hppymdm.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Gerad-Slider-Video-v7.mp4), and it plays properly. The second site is also running x theme, but it is an older version (4.3.4). I would like you to see that it works on that site, and then I’ll update, and see if I can’t replicate the issue.
In the meantime, open to your thoughts.
Regards,
TimApril 27, 2016 at 6:52 am #901955Hi Tim,
If you can create a clone of your site to different site with two different version, then that’s good for troubleshooting and comparison. Though, I don’t think the theme version has an effect on the video since it just uses the same player provided by WordPress. And X theme has no deeper integration with rev. slider, the slide is a stand alone that can work on any theme.
I think more testing would bring more accurate result.
Thanks!
April 28, 2016 at 5:10 pm #904829The issue was being caused by Cloudflare. I changed the name servers and the videos started working again. If I discover exactly which setting in cloud flare was causing the conflict I will post it here.
Thanks for looking into it.
