All text editing elements are missing when bringing up the edit text box in visual composer.
This morning up installed the most recent update the x-theme exactly as instructed in the Knowledge Base Section.
Still was missing the text editing elements.Updated my ultimate tinyMCE plugin.
Still was missing the text editing elements.
Completely uninstalled Ultimate tinyMCE plugin.
Still was missing the text editing elements.
Now cannot find that plugin when searching for new plugins. Not sure what is going on and how to get those feature elements back to the edit box in visual composer.
April 18, 2014 at 3:10 pm #34883Yes same story here. If i want to edit text the text is white and there are no editing options.
Some folks having the same issue at http://quadroideas.com/support/topic/visual-composer-is-not-working-now/
I hope somebody has a solution for this. Please help
PercyApril 18, 2014 at 5:15 pm #34937I checked versions to make sure things were updated.
Wordpress is v3.9
X theme is v1.8.3but when I look at plugins, those versions did not update. I manually transferred each plugin file that needed to be updated via ftp, again to no avail.
x shortcodes is still v2.0.9
revslider is still 4.2.5
and the visual composer is stated in my plugins as, ‘WPBakery Visual Composer and that is at v3.7.4
Hope this info helps reach a solution.
April 18, 2014 at 5:28 pm #34940I am having the same problem.
April 18, 2014 at 6:50 pm #34965Yup, i also updated to whole theme. But the visual composer plugin is still stuck at the “older” version :(.
April 18, 2014 at 6:56 pm #34966I’m experiencing this weirdness too. I’m not able to deactivate or delete the Shortcodes plugin 2.0.9, would like to update it without using http://FTP..
April 18, 2014 at 7:00 pm #34968Same problem here! Good to see it’s not just me 🙂
Any solutions??April 18, 2014 at 9:03 pm #35011Hi there!
We’re sorry that you’re having this issue.
If you don’t mind, please do the following steps:
1.) Update to the latest version of X which is 1.8.3.
2.) Go to Plugins panel then deactivate all plugins and delete WPBakery Visual Composer plugin.
3.) You’ll be notified to install the plugin again. Click “Begin Installing the plugin”.
4.) Check the visual composer again. If it is working, activate existing plugins again.I hope it works. Please let us know.
April 18, 2014 at 9:41 pm #35021Worked for me! Thanks!
April 18, 2014 at 10:21 pm #35032Actually, Visual Composer seems broken! Trying to make a page, when I hit publish or update it gives me this message:
“Your page layout was created with previous Visual Composer version. Before converting your layout to the new version, make sure to read this page. Convert to new version”
When I convert it has just duplicated all of my content through the page a million times. Very strange!April 18, 2014 at 10:22 pm #35033Glad we could help. I hope it works for them. If you have any questions, let us know.

Thanks for writing in! When you have a chance, make sure to read through this thread as it explains in detail the nature of this issue, and the original thread author shared some additional insights that you might find helpful.
Thanks!
April 19, 2014 at 12:21 am #35056Hi
I read through that and it seems to be a different issue since even if I start a new page, put it in visual mode, add something and then save, it tells me “Your page layout was created with previous Visual Composer version. Before converting your layout to the new version, make sure to read this page. Convert to new version” And when clicking convert (as there is no other option) it doubles everything, or more, that I added to the page. No switching between modes. It wasn’t doing this before?
April 19, 2014 at 1:10 am #35060I am experiencing the same issue…I have updated and installed the VC plugin numerous times.
I’m also getting errors using VC and Chrome, when I add a text box I cannot save…you can click away on the save button but it does nothing. I test in firefox and it does save fine. I am also missing the “visual” tab in the top right corner of the text editing window in chrome so I am stuck in “text” mode.
Do you recommend backing up my wordpress database and trying to do a fresh install of the theme and plugins? Will I lose my users info if I do this?
