    Hi there!

    I made a beautiful website with Cornerstone and now want to add multilanguage-support for my content. I already red the translation-article in the knowledgebase and it tells me that besides WPML qTranslate is a good alternative. (https://community.theme.co/kb/translation/ – Alternative Ways of Translating)

    I now installed qTranslate but when I change something in the “english” tab with cornerstone it also changes my text in other languages. I don’t know if there are some guides on using qTranslate with X, so please provide me with those if they exist.

    I will use WPML if qTranslate is no longer supported. But then you should remove it maybe from the knowledgebase 😉

    best wishes,

    Jasmin (primus consulting group GmbH)

    Hey there,

    Sorry but we don’t have documentation regarding that and there’s no documentation or support for it. It is there in the suggestion as it works fine and other users use it. We have no support for issues arising from the use of it though. Please refer the qTranslate documentation or contact their support.

    Thanks.

    Same problem here. When I toggle between EN and DE the content in Cornerston is overwritten with the most recent modifications.

    It seems that Cornerstone disregard the Qtranslate tab you select.
    It is never a problem with the Visual Composer.

    Is this really something to ask qTranslate about ?
    Have you found a solution Jasmin???

    Thanks – Olivier

    Hey there,

    This is because Visual Composer and Cornerstone works differently. Visual Composer works directly with the content like qTranslate. Cornerstone on the other-hand works using the page’s post meta then upon saving, inserts or overwrites the content with the builder data which is stored in the post meta.

    Integration is required to make this work. Regretfully, this is quite involved so this is not supported. Please see https://qtranslatexteam.wordpress.com/integration/ or you might want to contact our trusted partners who caters X setup and customization needs. Please see https://community.theme.co/custom-development/

    Alternatively, after you build the page with Cornerstone, you can switch to Text mode and then do the translation. Using the Cornerstone builder again would reset the translations though.

    Thanks.

    We purchased X4 and we see now that there is a problem with i.e. polylang or qtranslate.

    The suggestion is not possible for us. Can you be so kind and provide a fast solution ?

    Hi there,

    There is no possible solution yet and I’ll try to explain why. 🙂

    qTranslate doesn’t separate translations, all translation exist on the same post, and saved on same post_content (database entry). It creates an illusion that they are separated through editor, but once saved, it will combine all translation on same post_content separated by this token <!–:LANG–>

    Example, a content form post_content

    <!--:en-->
    English go here
    <!--:fr-->
    French go here

    It works with visual composer, like I said it create an illusion that translation are separated once rendered through an editor. And visual composer is editor based builder.

    Using qTranslate will create mess to your content once you decided to switch to another translator, or just decided to disable it. And since it’s disabled, there is nothing to separate the translation in the editor and then bunch of <!–:en–> will appear, even on live page.

    Some users are able to create some script to clean it like https://gist.github.com/frnhr/4219792, https://wordpress.org/plugins/qtranslate-to-wpml-export/, http://portfolio.planetjon.ca/2012/09/19/how-to-fully-uninstall-qtranslate/.

    Other translators create separate translations for each post and it doesn’t create a mess with your existing content.

    I really love to help, but this is something out of my capability. Cornerstone has no capability to separate translation that qTranslate combined.

    Thanks for understanding.
