Clelia MattanaParticipantHey guys, I installed X theme on a test platform before going live and I chose the Integrity stack. Everything is good, except for the layout of the blog and archives pages.
The template gives you 2 options: the regular and the masonry. I’d rather have a different layout with a list of blog posts with a small picture on the left and the excerpt of the post on the right. Many bloggers use this template and I find it very clear.
The template offered by integrity has very big pictures for each posts in the standard view and with the masonry is veru difficult to get the boxes perfectly aligned so it looks too messy to me.
Is there a SIMPLE way to change the layout for the blogs and archives? I tried to create a new page but when I go to the settings—–> blog options on wordpress and try to use that new page, it overwrites my layout and gives me the theme template (normal or masonry).
I’m not skilled with IT and I’ve watched all the tutorials and read all the documents but in regards of the blog i didn’t find anything useful.
I need to launch my new website in a week and i’m stuck with this. Any help will be much appreciated! I’m sort of desperate!!!
To see the preview of my website (still not live) with the X theme, here is the link: http://adminshift.net/keepbeta/
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP!
PS: I asked a web designer but he wasn’t able to do it for me, that’s why I’m writing in here.

RadModeratorHi there,
Thanks for posting in.
How about trying ethos? Ethos is good for that layout. http://theme.co/x/demo/ethos/1/
Blog is not like portfolio where you can decide layout and columns per page. The blog layout settings will change all the page you created for blog. And wordpress is limited to only one blog, unless you will create another post type that will represent as your another blog.
And you will have to consult a wordpress developer for that to implement.
Could you set your blog to standard? I’ll try to create a css that will place the featured on left and excerpt on right.
Thanks.

Clelia MattanaParticipantThank you for your reply!
When deciding the stack I wanted to go for Ethos just because of the blog layout. For me Integrity is better and most of all I already installed the child theme and made a few edits to it so i guess it’s late to go back to ethos now.But That is the layout I wanted for my blog. I’m sorry if i ask questions which are probably basic for you, but is it possible to use the ethos blog on my integrity stack?
I set up the blog to standard now, as suggested. Thanks for your help!

Kosher KMemberHi There,
I’ve made some changes on your blog page,
Under Customizer > Blog > Content > Excerpt Length, I set to to 100 (characters)
Then added this code below in your child theme style.css
@media only screen and (min-width:767px){ .blog .entry-featured, .archive .entry-featured { float: left; width: 25%; margin: 2%; } .blog .entry-wrap, .archive .entry-wrap { padding-top: 15px; } }You can see the changes in here now http://adminshift.net/keepbeta/blog/, http://adminshift.net/keepbeta/category/sardinia-2/
Hope that helps,
Have a great day

djhuppParticipantI’m looking to do the same thing… to have blog posts with an image to the left and text to the right (for short movie reviews) I am also using the integrity stack.
Is adding the code mentioned in the thread still the easiest way to do this? or has something changed with the latest version of x?
thanks!August 9, 2015 at 2:47 am #354063
Rue NelModeratorHello There,
Thanks for updating this thread!
The code above should work in your integrity stack. To assist you with this issue, we’ll first need you to provide us with your URL. This is to ensure that we can provide you with a tailored answer to your situation. Once you have provided us with your URL, we will be happy to assist you with everything.
Thank you.

djhuppParticipantI’ve tried searching the forums, but my problem is that I don’t have all the terminology figured out, so I don’t know what I am searching for…
So, I want to have the post title at the top (as it appears now) below that, a picture to the left, (a little smaller than it appears now). and then the text of the blog post to the right.
also, I have a star rating plugin that I am using, that I would like to show up on the front page on my posts. Currently, you have to click on the post to see the star rating. I’d like the star rating to appear to the right of the picture, above the text.
thanks!

FriechModeratorHi There,
Thanks for writing in! Regretfully this isn’t a feature offered by X. It could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities.
Thanks for understanding. Take care!

djhuppParticipantbased on the previous poster’s description, I was thinking that what I was looking for was very similar. I was thinking that the code suggested earlier in this thread would get me close to what I was looking for… you disagree?

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
We can provide you with code to display featured image on left and excerpt of right side, please try this code :
@media (min-width:767px){ .blog .entry-featured { float: left; width: 38%; margin:2%; } .blog .entry-content.content p { width: 60%; float: right; } }You need to add featured image to see the result.
But in regards with ‘star rating plugin’, what you trying to achieve requires custom development which is outside the scope of our support.
Hope it helps.
August 15, 2015 at 2:41 am #359730
djhuppParticipantI will give that a try thanks!
as for my star rating plugin, it shows up fine when you click on the post. So is there simply a setting or a bit of code I can add to get my post to show up EXACTLY the same way on the main page as it does when you click on it. Again, I apologize, my wordpress vocabulary is lacking.
