    Hello Theme X team,

I hope you can help me, just to show you quickly my problem you can see a short video I made about it in here:

    http://screencast.com/t/lbntm3Kevrh

I have 2 issues in fact, so below you will read about them too:

    1) The text layers that I added to a slide are not being positioned where I want (at the top-left corner of the slide)

    2) When I click the “preview” button to see the slider I get an error message which is connected with something called “Mod_security”

In case this is relevant, my site is hosted at HostGator, and my site is: http://www.skupiner.com

I hope you can help me!

    Carlos

Just to give an update here… I still haven’t figured out about the “Preview slider” error message, but I think I found what is the problem on the positioning of the text layers and it is related to the “Layers Grid Size”…

If I change the numbers in that parameter, then I get the text moving (and resizing) accordingly… but the problem I see is that the size of the text changes if I resize the browser window, so it means that the slider (the text layers) will look different in different computer resolutions, moving the elements to other positions where I don’t want them to be….

    Help….

    Hi There,

    Thanks for writing in.

ModSecurity concern, you must contact your hosting provider to whitelist specific url or file. This can happen not only at Rev Slider, but all feature that uses XMLHttp, and given that wordpress depends on XMLHttp, it’s not practical to block it.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks.

Hello “Staff” 😉 (sorry, I don’t know your name)

I contacted my host (HostGator) and they said this:

“The mod_security rule that caused the error is blocking a vulnerability in the RevSlider plugin. If it were whitelisted, it could result in the site becoming compromised or hacked. So unfortunately, we cannot whitelist the mod_security rule in this case, due to the security vulnerability it would cause.”

    Do you have any advice?

    Thank you,

    Hi there,

It has come to our attention that some users who are with HostGator are having issues installing Extensions. It has been reported that they receive a 403 error page. We have looked into this and discovered it is a problem with HostGator’s server configuration. They are blocking remote file downloads that originate from Amazon S3, which is where we host all of our products. X relies on the TGMPA library for our extensions system, and there have been reports from other users as well which you can see here. We’re looking into any solutions, however it is a configuration issue on their end. If you’re experiencing this, you may wish to contact HostGator to see if they can lift the restriction for you and/or opt to install the plugins manually as outlined directly above, however automatic updates will not work for situations like this since it is due to a server configuration with HostGator.

One known solution is contacting HostGator support chat and making this request:

    “Please whitelist rule ID 1234234”

    Thanks.

I got error messages as well trying to download and install the extensions with hostgator. A work around for the extensions is when downloading the xtheme package from Theme forrest you get the extensions, so just upload them from the plugins page in wordpress and they install fine.

For the mod_security error, I’m still stuck on that one.

    Hi There,

    Thanks for posting in.

For ModSecurity concern, you must contact your hosting provider to whitelist specific url or file. This can happen not only at customizer, but all feature that uses XMLHttp, and given that wordpress depends on XMLHttp, it’s not practical to block it. Customizer is builtin feature of wordpress and X is simply hooked on it.

    Check this http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Customization_API

X just pick and save data using customizer’s XMLHttp and no added custom scripting.

    Thank you.

I’m having the same issue with hostgator. I’ve never seen how the revolution slider even works because it gives the mod_security error on preview. I’ve asked them to whitelist. The support tech I spoke with admitted to seeing the mod security rule being hit on the server from the plugin but that is not a rule that he could whitelist so he created a ticket for their admins to review and whitelist the rule if possible. I sure hope that works and will follow up with the results
