X-theme crashes when saving quite often

Hi Support,

We are hosting 5 x-theme sites on our virtual server at SiteGround. Sometimes when saving a page on the cornerstone editor it just crashes to an error page.

I have googled x-theme and other people have also experienced similar issues when saving. We have increased the Wordpress memory, upgraded to php 7.2. Have the latest theme, wordpress and plugins. Tried using SIteGrounds caching on and off but to no avail. Every now and then when saving a page created with Cornerstone the site will crash. According the SiteGround something very heavy happens when saving which causes them to throttle requests and the site crashes and loosing work.

Error log:
[Wed Dec 19 08:51:42.990463 2018] [:error] [pid 48567] Execute of /home/paulg710/public_html/index.php stopped
because of load 106.00

We have around 5 x-theme sites on the virtual server, all upgraded with the latest wordpress and theme etc.

This is the server info:
2 CPU Cores, CentOS, 4GB RAM, 40GB SSD, cPanel, Cloud Storage, Management Services

Can you recommend any hosting that’s optimized and recommended for using the x-theme?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for writing in and I’m sorry to hear that you’re having this issue. Even though you have 4GB Ram in your virtual server, you may not have allocated enough resources per site basis as well. To check that, install the following plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-serverinfo/) then head over to Dashboard -> WP Serverinfo area and see actual resources allocated for each site.

If you see that you don’t have enough memory (for example check PHP memory limit), you can then increase it by following our guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-increasing-php-memory-limit/16935). Instead of 512M you can increase it by adding 768M or 1024M, since you’re the owner of your virtual server.

Also check the value for PHP max script execution time and increase it to 300 by following this guide (https://www.simplified.guide/php/increase-max-execution-time).

Once you increase your resources, verify it by head over to Dashboard -> WP Serverinfo area again before testing.

With regard to recommending a server, we cannot just guessing a value without knowing your current server load, current average traffic per month, number of concurrent visitors in peak time, average page size etc. You may need research a bit on that area or try finding a tool which helps to calculate such data.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Brilliant thanks. I will look at these.

No problem. Please let us know how it goes.
