X 5.2.4 - Live preview of Cornerstone custom CSS changes gone

Hi!

I have updated this site to X 5.2.4. http://www.optika-kobacic.hr.

The one issue I have now is that on all pages, when I update Custom Cornerstone CSS, the changes do not reflect in the Content.

For example, Hero Images on most pages are css background-images. Removing the CSS rule does not remove the background in the Content Preview, which makes the editing very hard.

Anything we can do about this?

Thanks!

Hello,

I checked your site and to test, I visited this page http://www.optika-kobacic.hr/global-blocks/koraci/ and added the testing-title class to the second headline “OD DOLASKA DO SAVRŠENIH NAOČALA” and added the color red at the Custom CSS code - all worked normally and the preview was changed after the refresh of the page.

To see the custom CSS codes, you need to refresh the page (Cornerstone and normal page): http://prntscr.com/habze9

Hi, excuse me if I understood you incorrectly, but X doesn’t need a page-refresh in order to see Custom CSS changes, as you may be suggesting.

please check my video: https://www.useloom.com/share/367c3c191508427989b82cccb754ef62.

As you can see, I have other site updated to the latest X, and there the preview happens instantly. (Siteground Hosting).

On the other hand, on this Themeco-hosted site, preview doesn’t update in real-time.

I am not saying it is a hosting issue. It could be tons of things, but I am interested to hear if you have any experience or insights about this problem. I have to solve it, because I cannot work like this.

Thank you!

Hi There,

If you’re using any caching plugins, your changes may not effect directly without saving the changes. Could you please try testing for a plugin conflict as well by deactivating your 3rd party plugins.

Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hi!

I have deactivated all plugins except Cornerstone, and deactivated the Child Theme. I have done this on the Cloudways testing copy of the website.

No Changes. The same issue is on the live page, and on the Cloudways copy.

I can select all custom CSS on the page and delete it, no change will happen in the content. For Example, Homepage Hero is still there, although it is fully controlled from CSS background-image, position, etc. So when I remove CSS, it should instantly react to this.

This is serious issue now. My workflow relies on Custom CSS, and if it doesn’t update in real time, I cannot work.

Thanks!

Hi Misho,

Thanks for brining this up. I’ve been able to confirm it as a bug. It’s because in the preview window, the custom CSS from your previous revision is being added to the page at a point after the dynamic preview CSS is inserted. This results in the preview not updating. It works on brand new pages, but on existing pages the old CSS stays in place.

We’ll see about getting it fixed for the next release. I’m sorry, regretfully I don’t have a good workaround for this until it’s fixed officially. You could remove all the CSS and save, then paste it back in to work on it (before saving again) but this leaves your live page without the custom styles for that window of time while you’re editing. It’s also cumbersome.

Fantastic, thanks Alexander!

As long it is fixable, I don’t mind doing workarounds until the fix comes out.

You’re welcome.
Thanks for understanding.
