Why does my page look fine in Cornerstone but messes up completely when viewing the published page?

Any existing page I try to duplicate results in a new page that looks fine in Cornerstone but loses its styling when viewing the published page.

See the example here: Example

Any solutions?

Hi Takaji,

Thanks for reaching out.

May I know which styling is not working? I checked it with https://validator.w3.org but I don’t see any error related to malformed content. And looks like the styling is working properly, except it’s displayed in absolute full-width. Please provide your admin login credentials in the secure note as well then I’ll compare.

Thanks!

Thanks Rad, I’ve added a secure note.

Hi,

It seems to look the same on my end.

Can you provide us a screenshot on how it looks in your end,

For the mean time, try adding a gap element to your empty columns.

Thanks

Here’s what it looks like in Cornerstone: https://i.gyazo.com/64347f892b2843276dc46d52763177cd.png
And here’s what it looks like in the browser: https://i.gyazo.com/6b02e62ca7567aebc875dc999664d473.png

This is the page in question: https://sunordic.org/feb-ep-2-2/

This kind of broken formatting persists no matter which page I duplicate, it seems.

Hello @Takaji,

I have checked the mentioned page in Chrome, Firefox and Opera browser. It is displaying exactly the same as the Cornerstone pre view. After doing the updates, always remember to clear all caches (if you are using WP Rocket, WP SuperCache or W3 Total Cache) when updating so that the code from the latest release is always in use. This will help you to avoid any potential errors.

Since you are using SiteGround, please clear the site cache or temporarily disable the supercacher in your hosting panel. The SuperCacher is developed by SiteGround exclusively for their customers. It increases the number of hits a site can handle and boosts the website loading speed. The SuperCacher includes 4 different caching options for maximum optimization of your websites. You can access the tool by clicking on the SuperCacher icon in your cPanel.

For more information about this, please check it out here: https://www.siteground.com/tutorials/supercacher/supercacher_intro.htm

And please clear your browser cache too. You may use private browsing mode in testing your site to make sure that you are viewing the latest codes from the updates and not the cached version in your browser.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, the problem persists - I’ve followed your instructions to clear my browser’s cache, test the page in private browsing mode, and I’m not using any caching plugins in my Wordpress install.

Strangely, the page earlier in question (https://sunordic.org/feb-ep-2-2/) seems to have resolved itself. Could you look at this page (https://sunordic.org/tp-template/) and let me know if you also see issues with the layout? The page is a renamed duplicate of another existing page and is displaying the same issues. I’ve asked one of our employees offsite to test the page and they also confirmed the same problem.

You can reproduce the problem by attempting to duplicate any page in the Wordpress install and then try to view it.

Hi @Takaji,

I checked the page on my end and it looks fine.

I have also followed your steps in duplicating a page but still could not replicate your issue.

Does you employees have the same ISP as yours?

Can you try doing it in Chrome Incognito Mode.

Thanks

Hi Paul,

We’ve confirmed that the page you visited no longer has issues - in my last post I suggested to try this page instead:

https://sunordic.org/tp-template/

The employee uses a different ISP and I’ve also tried viewing the above page in Incognito mode, with the same problems.

Please take a look at the link I’ve shared above and you should see this: https://i.gyazo.com/84f412f1e2194cefe317a9ec70f2c8b1.jpg

Hello @Takaji,

Yes, I can confirm the issue. I have check elements and it turns out some page settings is missing on the frontend. Specially paddings. I open the page on Cornerstone and click save. The page now displays like it is on Cornerstone editor. Please confirm it is not fixed on your end.

@Lely,

Confirmed that your fix also works on my end! From now on when I duplicate a page, I will open it and press Save once in Cornerstone to fix it. Thank you very much for your help.

Is this an expected behaviour or is it a bug in Cornerstone?

Hi Takaji,

The issue could be with the duplicator plugin that is not carrying out the Cornerstone styles not unless the duplicate pages are saved in Cornerstone. As the duplicator plugin is a third party plugin, there is no way for us to check on this issue due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.

What you can try to do now is to save the page as a template in Cornerstone through the template manager and import it to another Cornerstone page.

Hope this helps.

Thank you @Jade!

You’re welcome, Takaji.
