Upgrading from 3.2.1 -- how?

I’m hopelessly lost. Can you point to the support articles for upgrading from dinosaur version to X version 5, please? Thanks ever so much!

We advice that you setup a staging site, this way you can update the site and solve issues that might occur without risking your live site. You can follow the guide provided here: http://www.wpexplorer.com/migrating-wordpress-website/

  1. Can I leave my site at 3.2.1? The first step, the staging site, is too daunting – I don’t trust myself to do all this without error. www.farrvisions.com is the 3.11 x theme site, btw.

And:
2. Can I buy the new version of x and start a completely new site on my shared server?

We always recommend to use latest version of everything. If you face any issue, we’ll always assist you to solve the issue that is related to X and our extensions. You can create a backup of your site if you’re not comfortable with a staging site and then do the update.
