Upgrade of X theme damaged our site beyond repair

Hello,

We have upgraded X theme and its plugins to the latest version. The pages look weird now but cannot be opened and edited with Cornerstone. A new page cannot be created with Cornerstone either. The error message is “The preview was unresponsive after loading. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing.” The memory for Wordpress as suggested by X on other topics - 256M, max limit 512M (settings in wp_config.php). System: OS: Ubuntu, php version: 7.0. WordPress 4.9.8 running. We turned off all plugins except for Cornerstone. Did not help.

What do we do now? Please help.

Hi there,

Please also double check that you have Cornerstone updated to the latest version as well. After updating, please clear your browser and site’s cache.

If you are still seeing an issue, please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. The Cornerstone version is 3.2.5. X theme version is 6.2.5. All plugins are deactivated except for Cornerstone and Maintenance page plugin (had to put a maintenance page up to mitigate the issue). Did not help.Cache cleared. Please help.

Hello @vba66a,

Thanks for updating the thread.

In that case please share website login details in secure note for us to take a closer look.

Thanks.

Hello, we provided the login details in a secure note. Please let us know if you have any problems or questions. Thank you for looking into that.

Hello There,

I enabled back the WP Bakery Visual Composer plugin so that pages created with this plugin will work and display properly.

I went ahead and investigate. I am seeing JS errors when you edit the page in Cornerstone or when you view the live page. How did you update the theme and Cornerstone? Did you use the automatic updates or by manually uploading the files using ftp? Please provide us ftp so that we can check the theme files. There might be some corrupted files during the update. We need to re install the theme and Cornerstone again. To re install, please see “Manual Updates” in this article: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank you. That helped.

You are most welcome!
