Updating from early xtheme

Hi there,

I have a site I have been holding off updating for some time, and now the cornerstone elements are all awry although the page has remained relatively unchanged. Is there any simple fix to rectify this?

everything up to date

Kind regards,

Lee

Hi Lee,

Thanks for writing in! Upon checking your referenced site, I see that you have updated Cornerstone plugin to the latest version (v3.3.8) and you’re still using an older version of X theme (v5.2.5), so you’re experiencing an incompatibility issues.

Please update your X theme as well to the latest version and update any other outdated plugins by checking our version information here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/troubleshooting-version-compatibility/195). Since you have missed a major X theme update, automatic updates may not work. In that case you can manually update your X theme by following our guide here (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-updating-your-themes-and-plugins/62).

After updating your X theme and plugins. Make sure to purge your server cache (if you’re using a caching plugin), clear CDN cache (if you’re using a service like CloudFlare) and also clear browser cache before testing.

Hope that helps.
Thanks!

Many thanks. I’ve done all that and mostly I have success except this page https://barbarycoast.uk/contact/. I binned the page, rebuilt it but it still renders wrong.

Hi There,

This issue occurred most likely there are some unclosed HTML tags (</div>, </p>, </span>, …) in your text elements.

I recommend you use this online tool to check all your text elements HTML format:

Let us know how it goes!

Hi I checked that, but Ive discovered that If I add a footer, the footer goes to top right of page

Hi Lee,

Your referenced page shows that you’re using Pro theme and I see it’s not fully updated as well (you’re couple of versions behind). Since the latest release includes all the bug fixes as you can read from here (https://theme.co/changelog/), I would suggest you to update to the latest version and test again.

If you’re still having issues after update, please provide us with your WordPress login credentials in a secure note to take a closer look of your issue.

Thanks!

Hi There,
Many thanks for your help, I want to do an overhaul of the site, but there seems issues. Not only the above but on many pages there are many blank added sections or containers that I can’t get rid of. I was going to replace each page one by one, but even that appears not to work. Could you check please

Hi,

Thank you for providing your login credentials.

This is a known issue with the latest version.

Our developers have already added some code that will automatically fix the malformed column layouts but this will be available in the next version.

For now you can fix it by going to Layout > Rows then change custom to one column or to what it was before.

For example, change this

to this

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Hope it helps
