Updating after a long time

What is the best and safest method of updating after a relatively long period of time.

I am running…
WordPress 4.7.9
Pro 1.1.0
Woocommerce Version 2.6.14

It is running the child theme too. Im a little nervous that an update will break the site etc so how can i navigate around any problems and update in the safest manner.

Hey @Bhlon,

Please see our Updating Your Themes and Plugins article.

In summary, it is best that you copy your site over to a staging server and then do all the updates there then check for any issues. If there’s no issue, you can follow the update steps you’ve done in your staging to your live site.

Ok but i cant find in one place which versions i can update too that you have tested…eg what version of Wordpress, woocommerce etc.

Can you point me to a single page where all this information resides?

Also, given the wordpress version i am on, what do i update first.

Can i update you theme to the latest with the wordpress version i am on?

It would be best that you update WordPress to at least 4.9.2
