Could you please try following the posts below and implement it accordingly in your child theme (https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/setup-how-to-setup-child-themes/57).

If you’re using a caching plugin, make sure to purge full cache before testing (https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-clear-your-cache-in-wordpress/).
