Unable to edit pages with cornerstone

Hi there,

I cannot edit my pages anymore, the following message appears

==================
The preview was unresponsive after loading. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing.

To check if it had something to do with my plugins I disabled them, but the problem is still there. Can you please have a check? I will send you login details in a secure note.

Thanks in advance, Marjolijn

HI there,

I tried to check your site but the admin section does not seem to be working, it redirects to the link that I added on the secure note.

For the meantime, kindly check for the following:

  • We’d recommend that you increase your memory allocated to PHP if you haven’t done so already. To increase it, please edit your wp-config.php file and insert these lines:
    define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );
    define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M' );
  • If the issue is still there, please make sure that you have everything updated to the latest version especially for X and Cornerstone. You can find more info about the support versions of X and its bundled plugins here.

  • If you are still seeing an issue, please try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Let us know how it goes!

Hi Jade,

I did what you suggested, stil no result. I wil search further but in the meantime: Is there another way to edit a page (without cornerstone)?

The problem with login you experienced, what can be the cause? Can you try again?

Regards Marjolijn

Hi Marjolijn,

If you have built the page using Cornerstone, you should only use Cornerstone to edit it because it might break the serialized data that Cornerstone uses which will not allow you to edit the page using Cornerstone again.

I tried to check your site and to login using a VPN and I am still getting redirected to the admin page. Do you have any IP restriction active on your site? If so, kindly try to temporarily disable it so that we can check your site.

Thank you.

Hi Jade,

I don’t kwow why you cannot login to my website. I did not put a restriction on it. But I also experience problems with acces to the admin.
I asked the hosting party, they see the time outs but cannot see the cause. Could it have something to do with an ssl plugin (really simple ssl)? And do you know if i can deactivate this plugin safely?

Regards, Marjolijn

hi there,

Still the login redirection issue is there!
I am unable to login to your admin to check what could be the issue.
Can you please disable all plugins and check if the issue is resolved.
Thanks

I have disabled all plugins and this doesn’t help. But I found out something else now. The problem only exists on the homepage. All other pages I can edit with cornerstone Only the homepage is not accessible. Also we have this login problem,

I notice that the homepage has a 301 redirect from http to https. The other pages have a 200
Could that be part of the problem?

tomorrow I will contact my host again. If you have any idea I’m glad to hear from you. Regards, Marjolijn

Hello There,

I have tried logging in to your site and it seems that the WP access no longer works.

I checked your homepage and I also found a JS error. Please have your custom JS updated and use this instead:

(function($) {
  $('.single-post .x-landmark').prepend('<img id="myImg" src="https://deambachtsschool.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/header-267.jpg" />');
})(jQuery);

This JS error might be the caused of the issue. After making your changes, please make sure to clear all your caches first before testing Cornerstone again.

Hope this helps.

Hi @RueNel,

I changed the JS code but this doesn’t help unfortunately. What I notice now is that the error message says

The preview version has a /.
Could that be the problem?

Hello there,

Another support staff here. Kindly check if the error you’ve mentioned is present here on our troubleshooting guide:

If not, can you share to us a screenshot image of the error? Please update the secure note with the correct Wordpress User/Pass as well, as it’s still not working.

Thank you.

Hi i have updated the secure note. Hopefully you can enter the admin area.

Hi MarjolijnZegers,

I still couldn’t log in your website dashboard and I couldn’t log in via FTP as well, I got this error:

Are you limiting FTP login to certain countries/IPs?

I’ve also another suggestion which is activating the parent theme instead of the child one then recheck this issue.

Thanks.

Hi @jumar,

I contacted the hosting company and after a long search they fixed it. It had something to do with timeouts, because it took to long to load cornerstone, the server finished the connection. Something like that.

I also asked why you could not get into the admin and that is because of your ip. They can whitelist you, so that is good to know for the future.

But for now, I am happy that this issue has been solved.
Best regards, Marjolijn

Glad to hear that. I have moved the image to secure note and the information is in between you and Themeco staff.
