Typography

hi there,

i had a ball to design my page this far today: https://genius.iturtle.eu

but now things start to get tricky:

why is the headline font not bigger?
why is the content font black and not grey (default setting)?
font manager is off (default).

which custom css field shall i use preferably?

can i use the design/customizer again in this version of x?

thanks for your help! kai

Hello There,

Thanks for writing in!

If you are using Headline element, please keep in mind that there is its own default settings independent from the global settings. Please make sure that you have selected the font size and color:

With custom css, you must have to choose whether your custom css will affect the element, for the page only or globally.

  • If you want a custom css for the element, you will need to insert it in the inline css field right in the “Customize” tab of the element.

  • If you want to apply the custom css for the page only, you can insert it in the Cornerstone’s custom css section.

  • And if you want to apply the custom css globally, then you can make use of the Theme Options custom css

We are shifting from customizer to the Theme Options. I would highly recommend that you use X > Theme Options instead.

Hope this helps.

dear rue!

thanks a lot for your explanations!
i still wonder why the v2 elements do not just have the global font settings applied by default.
if they would look like the classic elements by default it would be much less confusing!
and if i then want to change color or size i can still do it one by one with the v2 elements. or even easier globally with the v1 elements
this way i have to set font size and color with every new element to the same values. this is sooo tedious.
or is there some way now to set it up with global elements? i have not figured those out…
do you think you might change this in the future?

thanks a lot! kai

Hi there,

It’s currently setup that way and already discussed between our developers, but I’m not really sure about its status. For the meantime, you can change your v2 elements styling and save it in a preset, then you can simply apply that preset to your v2 element in any page.

Thanks!

hi rad,

thanks. i hoped it was already different. i just can’t get my head around it that it is the way it is

thanks for listening! kai

what for is this setting for h1 size?
you suggested the text size setting further down the options column.

thanks! kai

Hey Kai,

The Headline element allows you to have a Sub Headline and that also has its own font size setting. So you have two elements inside the Headline element now. With the Base Font Size, you can increase or decrease the font size of both of the elements simultaneously provided they are using scalable CSS unit like EM. You can see how it works here.

Hope that helps.

wonderful. thanks!
is the subheadline an h2 element? would make sense for seo purposes

You’re welcome.

It is span by default but you can change it to any text element.

I’d also like to add that there is now a feature called the Element Defaults which is part of the Template Manager. That will help you at least setup a default style for each V2 element.

hi christian,
this is fantastic! thanks for the info!
becoming a fan of x again after a sort of disappointing dive into divi from elegant…
looking forward to the future of x now!
best wishes, kai

Glad we could help and thank you for your nice words.

Cheers!
